There are many types of waste in the production environment, and many more factors contribute to those wastes. One of the biggest cost factors is inadequate production line planning. In fact, inefficient production lines can be frustrating for customers to wait, while lots of products that are created too quickly pose a high risk of wasting resources.
In order to limit the above waste, the lean manufacturing principle becomes an excellent solution for manufacturers who want to strictly control their processes, namely the Takt Time production method.
What is Takt Time Production?
To put it simply, takt-time production is a manufacturing method that helps a line to make products at the speed that customers need. It can be written like this:
Estimated Production Time / Customer Demand = Takt Time
The more accurately you predict the estimated production time and the right customer needs, the more useful this method becomes in reducing waste. Of course, even if you can’t come up with the most accurate numbers, the system still has many other uses.
Benefits of Production Takt Time
Of course, each manufacturing facility has different additional benefits. Tracking production rates and other stats is a great way to pinpoint exactly how your facility is benefiting from this production approach.
