Typical of overcoming difficulties and creativity: Growing up in hard times

Efforts to overcome difficulties and passion for creativity have helped young workers assert their own capabilities, contributing to the sustainable development of the business.

From 2016 up to now, Mr. Nguyen Vu Dat (SN 1986), Head of M&E Department of Thong Nhat Rubber Joint Stock Company (Saigon Industry Corporation), has had 16 big and small technical innovation initiatives, making benefits for business (DN) more than 3 billion. For Dat, the success of each initiative to help employees improve working conditions, increase labor productivity and contribute to supporting businesses to develop sustainably is the driving force for him to continue to be creative and dedication.

Help workers reduce strenuous

Graduated from university, in 2011, Dat joined the company as an employee of the electricity team. Constantly in contact with machines, Dat found that most of them are over 20 years old, often fail and fail to ensure safety for operators. The fact that he is constantly pondering and thinking must find a solution.

One of Dat’s first initiatives was “Improving the press and die supplying semi-finished products for two ESP4-5 molds” was implemented in 2014. Before the innovation, this equipment was pneumatically operated and controlled by hand, so the output is very low (only 1 product at a time), not to mention it does not guarantee safety for employees. To overcome this, Dat devises a way to replace the system operating the machine from pneumatic to hydraulic, with automatic control and safety sensors. With this improvement, production is increased by 30%, not to mention that a variety of products can be produced. This initiative benefits the company more than 280 million VND / year.

More confidence after this success, every year, Dat gives “out of the oven” 2-3 valuable initiatives. A special feature of his initiatives is that not only contributes to the benefits of businesses but also helps employees increase productivity and improve income. Typically the initiative “Improving the Desk core press”, which increases the average output of equipment from 1,500 to about 2,200 products / day.

Workers in this department are paid by product, so when productivity increases, their income is also significantly improved. With relentless efforts, after only a short time, Dat was promoted to the position of deputy head of the department, then head of the electromechanical department. In 2017, he was honored to receive the Ton Duc Thang Award.

Wholeheartedly with young workers

Joined Tico Corporation (Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City) in 2011, after only 1 year of working, from the position of operator of the control room, young engineer Ha Tram Huy (SN 1988) was put away. mentioned to be a vice production shift and then supervise production. In the eyes of the leaders of the unit and his colleagues, Huy is a professional person, daring to think, dare to do, always has many ideas and initiatives that both benefit billions of dollars and help businesses develop stably.

One of Huy’s most prominent initiatives is “Reducing emissions of hazardous waste in production by improving the process of completely recycling THF waste”. Huy said Tico is a company specializing in the production and trading of raw materials used for the cleaning industry. In the LAS production process, the exhaust gas treatment phase generates a certain amount of THF waste (about 0.2% per ton of product).

With the company’s annual productivity (60,000 tons of products), this amount of waste generated is quite large, about 120 tons. If not handled well, this amount of waste will become a burden for the company both economically and in the environment when it comes to hazardous waste treatment.

Huy offers a plan for treating THF with sulfuric acid and water. The project is successful, 95.67 / 120 tons of waste processed into finished LAS brings a value of more than 2.5 billion VND, at the same time helping businesses save more than 760 million VND in hiring 95 treatment costs, 67 tons of THF waste if converted into hazardous waste.

In addition to his passion for creativity, Huy actively proposed the board of directors to plant trees and create green patches around the factory. This idea not only helps to significantly improve the air quality, reduce noise around the factory, but also contribute to improving the working environment. Not only good at his job, with his available experience and enthusiasm, Huy also actively participates in professional training for a team of engineers and workers who directly operate production.

Over the years, the number of production operators trained by Huy is more than 70 people. “My joy is that after a period of mentoring, young people have started to boldly come up with small ideas and solutions to improve production processes. I am even happier when they are given these ideas associated with the responsibility to protect the environment “- Huy expressed.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam, Trade Union Chairman of Tico Corporation, commented: “Huy has good professional capacity, enthusiasm and creativity. Huy also knows how to arouse their passion for creativity In addition to professional work, Huy is also an active Trade Union officer, always wholehearted to members.

“When embarking on projects and projects, workers like Huy and Dat all want to help the workers less hard work and have a better income. Therefore, despite the difficulties and challenges, they always put all their heart and energy and try their best to perform. Their efforts deserve to be honored ”- Mr. Nguyen Thanh Do, Head of Policy – Law Department of the Labor Federation of Ho Chi Minh City, affirmed.
