After completing the investment of VND 70 billion to expand the factory and production line, Truong Tin Manufacturing and Trading Co., Ltd. in Song Cong 1 Industrial Zone, Thai Nguyen, continues to invest over VND 72 million in applying 5s, whereby productivity, product quality of the company is enhanced.
With the support from experts of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, from 7-8/2018 Truong Tin implemented 5S, applied to the entire production area and office. 5S really contributed to changing the appearance of the company and the awareness of employees.
Ms. Hoang Thi Anh Nguyet – Director of Truong Tin Company – said, Truong Tin is an enterprise specializing in producing all kinds of tools, mechanical tools such as industrial pliers, cutting tools, in which, products Pliers and hand-held mechanical tools account for 90% of products. Therefore, when implementing 5S, the company organized training, training and made regulations requiring all officials and employees to spend 10 minutes at the end of the day cleaning up their work areas.
In addition, the company also issued 5S self-inspection forms and 5S cross-assessments between departments, departments, workshops, production lines and teams. The company stated that 5S leaders must self-check daily the cross-assessments 5S will be carried out once a week by 5S Committee and the internal assessment will be maintained once a month. This contributes to making 5S a culture of enterprises and gradually forming a sense of habit for employees.
Also according to Ms. Hoang Thi Anh Nguyet, with the characteristics of mechanical manufacturing enterprises, the most suitable scope of application of 5S is the material storage area, tools and molds – heat treatment – electromechanical. For the most efficient cleaning-sort solution, use a shelf to arrange the mold to make the factory more open; use plastic trays, plastic boxes to arrange supplies in the warehouse to help manage, import and export materials more easily. Particularly clear signs and signage in working areas help identify jobs more conveniently.
After one year of implementation, the evaluation results show that the good practice of 5S has brought about awareness and effective management for enterprises. Accordingly, the working environment becomes clearer, cleaner and safer; materials, tools and products are reasonably arranged; Clear signs have helped improve work efficiency, limit errors, shorten production time for a product stage. Machinery and equipment are cleaned and checked regularly to help improve production availability. All path in the factory becomes more spacious and safer thanks to the lines and signs.
