TPM implementation potential in Huong Sen Packaging Company Limited

Huong Sen Packaging Company is an enterprise specializing in manufacturing carton and PP packaging products with 2 factories located at Lot B2, Nguyen Duc Canh Industrial Park and Tam Quang Industrial Cluster, Thai Binh province. In 8/2020, the company registered to participate in the program Maintaining overall equipment performance TPM supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Huong Sen Packaging Co., Ltd. has been in operation for nearly 10 years with about 300 employees so far, only at Tam Quang Industrial Branch has about 160 employees. Aiming to improve productivity and quality, the company has registered to participate in the TPM program and is expected to deploy at a carton packaging factory at Tam Quang Industrial Cluster, Tam Quang Commune, Vu Thu District, Thai Binh province.

After determining the potentials to implement the program of Huong Sen Packaging Company, on September 3, 2020, the project consultant, EPRO Consulting Joint Stock Company, conducted a direct survey of the house. machine to define the scope and target of program implementation.

Through the direct survey, the consultant and company representative agreed to deploy 2 pillars of TPM, which are self-managed maintenance (AM) and planned maintenance (PM) in the carton printer area, with indicators to measure the effectiveness of the program are OEE, MTTR, MTBF. All agreed contents are included in the implementation contract.

Initially, the Company proposed to deploy TPM in the radio area. However, the survey showed that the company’s printer sector is the area with the lowest productivity of production lines. In addition, this is also a potential area for 5S implementation, building self-managed maintenance standards, improving product conversion times, improving the placement of materials and printing inks.

In a limited time of implementation (from September to December 2020), the Consultant and the Company agreed to pilot implementation on a narrow scale and replicate when the pilot area is successfully implemented. During the implementation process, the Consultant supports additional training for personnel at the PP packaging factory of the Company and other personnel outside the printing department. In the future, the Company will actively deploy and replicate TPM in these areas.

TPM program implemented at Huong Sen Packaging Company received a high commitment from the company’s leaders in the arrangement of personnel and financial investment (minimum VND 20 million) for project implementation.
