Ton Dong A Joint Stock Company continuously improves to increase equipment performance

Ton Dong A Joint Stock Company is a unit specialized in producing cold rolled steel, zinc iron, cold iron, colored corrugated iron for industrial and civil construction, transport infrastructure, home appliances.

The company was established on November 5, 1998, with a vision to become a prestigious manufacturer of galvanized steel sheets domestically and in the world. Over the 22-year journey of construction and development, the company has continuously grown and equipped with many modern technologies and lines to meet the general development of the country and the world.

In 2020, Ton Dong A participates in the TPM application program supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade for domestic enterprises and has achieved encouraging results as follows:

– Deploy the contents of Self-governing Maintenance, Planning Maintenance and Key Improvement at Ton Dong A Thu Dau Mot factory (address: Lot A3, Road D4, Dong An 2 Industrial Park, Hoa Phu Ward, Citadel) Thu Dau Mot street, Binh Duong province). And actively replicate TPM activities to Ton Dong A Song Than 1 factory (address: No. 5, Street 5, Song Than 1 Industrial Park, Di An Ward, Di An City, Binh Duong Province).

– Track, measure and improve OEE’s overall equipment performance index at key production lines and equipment.

In particular, in order to improve equipment / line performance, the plant has implemented many internal improvement activities to eliminate and overcome common problems and losses. Outstanding as the innovation group at the CM4 coating machine helps to reduce downtime when changing paint, replacing shaft.

The pilot improvement group was set up consisting of 5 members from the engineering, operation, chief, and vice-shift departments who agreed on how and collected OEE data at CM4 machine for opportunity analysis. From the improved 20-day pre-monitoring data, the downtime due to paint change and shaft replacement accounts for a large proportion of the causes of OEE loss in CM4 machines. The group selected the topic and set a target to reduce downtime due to paint change and shaft replacement by 5%. After studying the work operation, equipment operating principles, the improvement actions are agreed to include:

– Improving the structure of paint chute cleaning

– Improved quick coupling of paint shaft

– Improving the structure of lifting paint chute

Improvement actions are assigned to team members and have a specific deadline for completion. The results achieved have reduced downtime due to shaft removal and replacement and paint chute cleaning. After testing and evaluation activities, the downtime due to paint change and shaft replacement has been reduced every 5 minutes. This improvement in stopping loss contributed to increase the OEE of CM4 machine in October by 1.47% compared to before the improvement.
