These initiatives benefit hundreds of billions of VND in KDN

(Inspector) – From the actual work, in order to improve the efficiency of operation, management of gas works, overcome arising difficulties, officers, engineers, workers of Southeast Gas Transport Company (KDN) has researched and launched many initiatives and solutions to apply in practice, bringing high efficiency, benefiting hundreds of billion VND for businesses.

Efficiency from best solutions

In 2018, the results of the ROV survey on the Su Tu Vang – Rang Dong pipeline recorded that the air bubbles escaped from the spool flange near the Su Tu Vang rig with an inconsistent frequency. In order to ensure safe and continuous ashore gas supply, as well as to ensure the integrity of the pipeline system, it is necessary to repair the leak. At the request of the registry and the operator to have a long-term repair plan, the KDN technical team studied and evaluated common repair options and found potential risks. During the construction process as well as the impact of stopping production, high cost, an idea of ​​online repair has emerged.

To implement this concept, the team investigated and consulted the registry about the use of clamps (press plates) specially designed and made to suit the installation location to handle the leakage. All measurements are provided by the manufacturer and require special clamps to be made to meet the required specifications, as well as with calculations and approval by an international registry. After 20 consecutive days, Epoxy Clamp has been successfully designed and installed in July 2019, overcoming the leak, and being recognized by the registry representative. This solution has helped to save costs, as well as ensure to maintain a continuous gas supply with a total benefit value estimated at more than VND 85 billion.

Assigned to manage and operate a large number of gas pipeline systems and gas distribution stations of the PetroVietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS), KDN Company manages many offshore pipelines high complexity, crossing many complex marine areas and high density of domestic and international ships and boats. Therefore, the protection of the sea pipeline of DNN faces many challenges before the dangers of boats and fishing boats being anchored to the pipeline, especially the pipes outside the 500m zone of the rig despite the announcement shipping.

Concerned about that problem, the KDN research team has found a solution “Using navigation software to detect and prevent ships from violating the pipeline corridor”, actively supporting the work of ensuring safety. Coastal canal (HLTO) of the coastal zone. In the period of 2017-2020, KDN uses OPENCPN software to monitor AIS signals of maritime vessels within an effective radius of 30 knots from the Vung Tau Lighthouse. Since January 2020, the authors have upgraded the software and expanded the scope of control.

The software features automatic warnings, allowing timely alerts by text and email messages to ships / boats moored in HLAT; as well as sending notices to the designated address of KDN. In addition, the data storage feature allows recording the vessel’s path to track and retrieve data when needed, as evidence of penalties for infringing vessels; Besides, the software can also adjust to expand the warning points and areas when there is a change or expansion of sea pipes and rigs within the coverage area as required by KDN. The system can also be accessed and connected remotely via Web interface;

With the application of safety monitoring and management software for HLTO, from 2017 to now, KDN has detected more than 135 cases of ship anchoring in marine HLTO of KDN and NCSP. Since the software was upgraded, KDN has discovered and warned more cases of vessels violating the marine HLTO at longer range. This solution has directly improved the management efficiency of the sea pipeline of DNN, as well as indirectly minimized the risks of causing unsafety and related damage, costs, because if any damage occurs, it will cost billions, even tens of billions for repair, not to mention other serious and unpredictable impacts on safety.

With high efficiency and applicability, the two solutions above has been recognized and rewarded for the “Special” level initiative at the PV GAS level and is submitted for approval at the level of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group. These are 2 typical initiatives recently among many initiatives applied effectively in KDN, a unit at the top of PV GAS ‘innovation and innovation movement.

In practice, bringing high efficiency, contributing to improving production quality, greatly contributing to the overall performance of the Corporation.

From 2015 to 2020, KDN has 121 initiatives in the field of management, technological innovation, and solutions in operation management, including 18 Corporation-level initiatives, 07 Group-level initiatives. Beneficial value is about 196 billion. Particularly in 2019, the company has 33 registered initiatives, of which 6 are recognized at the Corporate level. The economic efficiency from maintaining a continuous gas supply and the value benefits of cost reduction separately for the Corporation-level accredited initiatives is VND 92 billion.

In 2020, the promotion of initiatives and improvements was prepared by KDN earlier than the previous years, since the beginning of the year, the organization has reviewed, commented and supplemented to perfect ideas, innovations and people with appropriate expertise to help the author soon complete the idea. In the first 6 months of 2020, Science and Technology Board of Trade Union, based on the results of the first review of the Science and Technology Council, the Company recognized and rewarded 17 ideas; In which, the Covid-19 Anti-Disinfection Chamber initiative was recognized and awarded a certificate of merit by the Vietnam Oil and Gas Union. The main initiatives being implemented in 2020 and 2021 are expected to continue to be innovative initiatives with high gray matter content and bring great benefits to KDN and PV GAS.
