The evaluation results show that good 5S practice at the GTCB company has brought awareness and efficiency of visual management to businesses: 5S goes into the company’s rules, every week, workshops carry out the 5S targets, and these goals are not just responsibilities, but also bring about the benefits of individual salaries.

Participating in the Program to improve productivity and quality of Industry and Trade sector, Cao Bang Iron and Steel Joint Stock Company has started implementing 5S good practices since April 2018. The results of the evaluation show that good 5S practice has brought awareness and efficiency of visual management to businesses: 5S goes into the company’s regulations, every week, workshops carry out 5S goals, and These goals are not only responsible but also bring about the benefits and benefits of each individual (see 5S regulations of Cao Bang Iron and Steel Company).
Steps to deploy at the company:
M&E Workshop is a voluntary workshop with pilot activities, the first activity is training 5S for all 30 employees of the workshop. Objectives of the company when participating in the application of 5S Good Practice Program:
– Effective use of premises of the M&E workshop increased from 50% (at present) to at least 80% of the floor area.
– 100% of workshop staff are trained in 5S (external training and self-training).
– Since August, 5S practice is a regular activity at the company.
After the first 2 months, 39 good 5S practices have been recorded.
After 4 months of piloting at the M&E workshop, the workshop has achieved the goal of good 5S practice (maintain 40 photos Before – After 5S each week).
From the 5th month of implementation, with a clear change in management efficiency (the efficiency of using the M&E workshop area doubled, the 5S good practices were implemented by all employees), so the apply 5S good practices to be popularized, trained and replicated to other workshops.
Consultant trained 5S for managers in August 2018: Manager, team leader, deputy head of the production shift about 5S of workshops: Mineral sorting, Sintering, pig iron, Steel, KCS room, room Energy transport, technical safety room. The 5S training session was combined with the announcement of typical 5S implementation results at the M&E workshop, and in conjunction with the 5S launching ceremony throughout the company.
Up to now (June 2019), 5S activities have been maintained regularly in all workshops and departments.
