Thanh Hoa: Application of science and technology to increase product productivity

Implementing the program “One commune one product” (OCOP) and orienting the development of key products towards sustainability, quality improvement, concentrated commodity production and brand building from many districts of Thanh Hoa province has supported businesses to approach and apply science and technology in production.

Evaluation of initial results shows that the productivity and product quality of the pilot enterprises have improved, and the value of products on the market has also increased.

Typically, Duc Giang Co., Ltd. in Phu Xuan commune is a pioneer in investing in producing and processing traditional peanuts on a large scale. With the aim of improving product quality, the company has promoted the application of science and technology in production. Accordingly, the Company invested in 1 sublimation dryer, 1 cutting machine and 2 automatic bagging lines. Since the application of these technologies, the material mixing ratio has been guaranteed with high accuracy. The modern processing and packaging equipment also helps the company’s products improve the design and appearance; prolong storage time and more and more consumers welcome. Thanks to that, after applying the technology, Duc Giang Co., Ltd has consumed about 30 tons of regular peanut candy, more than 20 tons of brown rice candy each year with an average annual revenue of about 3 billion dong.

Another typical enterprise is Hau Loc Trading Joint Stock Company. Each year, the company produces and consumes more than 2 million liters of alcohol. In order to proactively improve the quality, the company has expanded its factory scale, modernized its wine production process, while ensuring food safety standards, focusing on packaging to create trust and attract customer. At the end of 2010, the Company put Pilo scale distillation system into production so that it could reduce the concentration of aldehydes and methanol in Chi Ne wine products, improve product quality. With these improvements, the company’s Chi Ne wine product has been rated 3 stars by the OCOP Thanh Hoa Product Rating Council in 2019. In the near future, the company also considers inviting private experts Consulting on applying the most modern technologies to the beer and liquor production industry in order to improve product quality and raise product value in the market.

Linh Phuong peanut oil processing enterprisede (Ha Trung district) started to expand production and equipment such as automatic peanut press, boiler, etc. Compared to manual implementation as before, the oil pressing stage is manufacturied by the engine 1.5 times faster, the oil output increased markedly. Currently, Linh Phuong peanut oil products are not only served in the province but also sold in prestigious clean food stores outside the province.

Through the above examples, it can be seen that businesses have identified the application of science and technology as a key factor to improve production, increase product quality and increasingly focus on investment. Therefore, local agencies need timely technical and financial support to help businesses have opportunities to access new, modern technology and apply high efficiency to boost the  local economy in integration process.
