Thanh Giong Computer: Change to improves productivity

In the framework of the project “Model of overall productivity improvement” supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam Productivity Institute (VNPI) cooperated with Thanh Giong Computer and Communication Joint Stock Company to pilot the model.

Established in 2005 with the mission of manufacturing and distributing Vietnamese brand computers, providing electronic and telecommunications equipment, software products and technology … Thanh Giong is now becoming a partner. No. 1 in Vietnam, is the official distributor of major manufacturers such as ACer, HP, IBM, Sony, etc. However, at present, production and operation activities still go in manual direction. , not yet apply automatic lines. In addition, the plan for maintenance, replacement and maintenance of equipment, although there are specific procedures, has not been implemented methodically and periodically, the storage of components and materials is not yet scientifically arranged. Not yet coded the inventory tag, leading to confusion in the statistical process. The design capacity of the assembly line is 150 machines, but at present the machine is not working at full capacity.

After meeting and working with the delegation of experts, Thanh Giong has gradually changed. The lessons and improved tools are applied such as: productivity analysis, surveying customers and competitors, analyzing the VSM value chain, balancing capacity, standardizing operations, minimizing waste and minimizing waste. prioritize equipment, invest in technology. At the same time, the Company researches the production process, strictly controls the stages, avoids arbitrary work, causes difficulties and confusion in the working process. Besides, Thanh Giong also focuses on investment in technology improvement, research and product development to better meet market requirements.

After 6 months of implementation, the Company has obtained the following results: Labor productivity increased by 30% compared to the previous one; Product defect rate decreased from 2% to 0.75%; Customer satisfaction increased from 70% to 85%.

The representative of the Company said that embarking on the implementation of the project helped the Company to change a lot in thinking as well as how to implement improvement activities at the unit. During the project implementation, the consultant’s role plays an important part, if the project is hardware, the consultant is the software, helping the activities to be implemented in a rhythmic manner.
