SVEAM applies TPM and 5S to significantly reduce waste

As one of the leading enterprises in the field of agricultural and fishery machinery in Vietnam, over the past years, Southern Agricultural Engine and Machinery Company Limited (SVEAM) has continuously applied productivity improvement tools. in order to improve the competitive efficiency of products in the market.

In order to improve productivity and quality through improved management of machinery and equipment, SVEAM has maintained the quality management system ISO 9001: 2015, ISO 14001: 2015 and is one of the first 3 mechanical enterprises. of Vietnam successfully developed and applied the IATF 16949 standard. Especially, since July 2017, the company registered to participate in the TPM Program of the Ministry of Industry and Trade; conduct training and implementation of 5S to build a professional working environment, clean, tidy, and minimize unnecessary waste in the operation process.

From September 2018 to September 2019, with the support of consultants, the company has implemented TPM application at the side cover line of the mechanical workshop. After 1 year of implementation, production efficiency has increased markedly. OEE’s overall equipment performance index in the pilot area increased compared to August 2018. Specifically, the OEE value is 87.39% (August 2018); 94% (August 2019); from October 2018 to June 2019 are both greater than the target value of 85%. In terms of training efficiency, the Department of Mechatronics is capable of training TPM for other workshops in the company.

In terms of visual management, the company has been applying 5S for many years, so when implementing TPM, it is very convenient to apply visual management solutions to CNC machines at the hip cap line. Easy to see operating instructions, machine log, points of interest at machines. Through the first 3 months of implementing TPM, 5S activities have been promoted throughout the company, typically the internal road area of ​​the company with marking, vehicle regulations and maximum speed. again. In particular, about the manners and order of members of the pilot area TPM (hip cap line), all comply with the production diary, perform 10 minutes of machine cleaning every morning and the Department of Electrical Check equipment abnormality weekly.
