Special initiative brings great benefits

From the actual work, in order to improve the efficiency of operation and management of gas works, officials, engineers and workers of the Southeast Gas Transport Company (KDN) have had many initiatives and solutions applied and highly effective, benefiting hundreds of billion for the company.

In 2018, ROV survey results of Su Tu Vang – Rang Dong pipeline recorded air bubbles coming out of the pipe flanges (spool) near Su Tu Vang rig with intermittent frequency, requiring leakage repair. KDN technical team studied and evaluated the common repair options and realized that there were potential risks during the construction process as well as the degree of influence due to the production stoppage and high cost, so the team gave came up with an online repair idea. To accomplish this idea, the team explored the use of specially designed, fabricated clamps to fit the installation site to handle leaks. All measurement parameters are supplied to the manufacturer and require special clamp fabrication that meets the technical specifications, as well as calculations and approvals of the international registry.

After 20 consecutive days, Epoxy Clamp was successfully installed in July 1919, overcoming the leak, with the supervision and recognition of the international registry representative. This solution has helped save costs, ensure continuous gas supply, and the total benefit value is estimated at more than VND 85 billion.

KDN manages many pipelines stretching across the sea, passing through many complex marine areas, with a high density of boats and ships, and a great risk. KDN research team has a solution “Using chart software to detect and prevent ships from violating the pipeline corridor”. The software has automatic warning feature, which allows sending timely alerts by message and email to vessels anchored in the safety corridor. In addition, the data storage feature allows to record the path of ships to track and retrieve data as needed, as evidence of sanctions for infringing vessels. The software can be adjusted to open wide alert zone.

In the period 2017-2020, KDN uses OPENCPN software to monitor AIS signals of ships within an effective radius of 30 nautical miles from Vung Tau Lighthouse. From January 2020, the authors’ team upgraded the software and expanded its control.

With the application of this software, from 2017 to present, KDN has detected more than 135 cases of mooring ships in the seaway corridor of KDN and Vietnam Gas Transport Company (NCSP). Since the software was upgraded, KDN has detected and warned more cases of vessels violating marine corridors at longer distances. This solution has directly enhanced the efficiency of the seaway management of the KDN, indirectly minimizing the risks of unsafe and the costs of related damage, because if damage occurs, it will cost billions of dong to repair, not to mention other serious, unpredictable effects.

With high efficiency and applicability, the two above solutions have been recognized and rewarded with the “Special” level initiative of Vietnam Gas Corporation – JSC (PV GAS) and are submitting for approval at the Vietnam Oil and Gas (PVN) Group level. These are two recent typical initiatives among many effective application initiatives in KDN, one of the leading enterprises in the initiative and improvement movement of PV GAS.

In order to achieve such results, KTD leaders are always interested in promoting the promotion of technology, improving technology, rationalizing production, as well as applying information technology to business activities. This is an important measure to help operate flexibly and safely, stabilize gas projects, reduce costs, increase labor productivity, and protect the environment.

There are many solutions that KN has implemented such as: Strengthening Science and Technology Council; bachelors with appropriate expertise to support the author early turn ideas into reality; attach importance to ideas and innovation initiatives though small; organize timely rewarding of individuals right from the stage of the idea of the initiative; Bringing initiatives is one of the reward criteria in the evaluation of employees.,etc. Thanks to that, KĐ workers have promoted creativity, brought out many innovations and technical innovations applied in practice to bring high efficiency.

From 2015-2020, KDN has 121 initiatives in the field of management, technological innovation, operational management solutions, including 18 initiatives at PV GAS level, 7 initiatives at PVN level, total benefit is about 196 billion dong. Particularly in 2019, there are 33 initiatives registered, of which 6 are accredited for PV GAS. The economic efficiency from maintaining a continuous gas supply and the value of benefits from cost reduction alone for the recognized initiatives of PV GAS is VND 92 billion.

In 2020, promoting innovations and improvements was prepared by the National Assembly earlier than the previous years, right from the beginning of the year, they were reviewed, commented and supplemented to complete the ideas of innovations, improvements and assigning people who have the right expertise to help the author early complete the idea. In the first 6 months of 2020, the Department of Science and Technology of the KDN Union based on the first review of the Council of Science and Technology for recognizing and rewarding 17 ideas; in which the initiative “Antiseptic room against Covid-19” was recognized by the Vietnam Oil and Gas Union and awarded a certificate of merit.  Main ideas and innovations being implemented in 2020 and 2021 will have high gray matter content, bringing great benefits to KDN and PV GAS.
