HTD emphasizes a very important advantage: “With Versiondog, we always know the current status of our manufacturing plants. Versiondog makes our job easier and saves us time.” Centralized data storage, easy-to-understand documentation of all changes, and SmartCompare (for example, detailed comparisons based on graphics or text) all lead to greatly improved certainty and clarity.
Hassan El Haddad cannot say exactly how much time Tata Steel saves: “Yes, that is what our management wants to know,” he said, “but it is difficult to quantify in cash like pricing a smartphone ”. He went on to explain that the significant improvement in their work comes from knowing the status of production equipment. That makes proactive preventive maintenance much easier.
El Haddad said: “The more we know about our business machinery, the better we can maintain it. Furthermore, we have more data to analyze and we can use that data to improve our processes. That’s what the industrial Internet is going to be, but for us, right here, today. The main objective is to reduce downtime, and that has been achieved. Now that we know exactly which version of any driver program is being used, we used to assume that we couldn’t figure out which version it was. ”
System administrators are currently exploring capabilities provided by new features and options in version 6.0. As experienced users, they can quickly appreciate the new features they regularly discover and promise great benefits and are willing to offer them to users.
System administrators are especially interested in the new SAP (system application software) interface. Just like the maintenance department has managed device data with SAP, the automatic integration of the factory data into the Versiondog will be a highly valuable multi-system benefit.
El Haddad said: “Tata Steel is not different from many other companies in the beginning, the staff considered introducing Versiondog with a degree of skepticism. However, since then, our working culture has changed.”
That sounds quite positive, but Hassan El Haddad is adamant: “Right now we approach different issues and tasks. All of our personnel now see primarily opportunities for supply (input) change, not just the risks considered. They appreciate the reduction in workload, smooth workflow and the certainty that Versiondog provides. That is why Versiondog is not simply a tool, it has become a core element of our maintenance culture.
