According to Mr. Trinh Ngoc Thao – Deputy General Director of Smart Vietnam, 5S and ISO 9000, ISO 14000 have been applied by the company since 2016, and 6 months later, customers started coming. In 2017 and 2018, Smart Vietnam had a number of foreign customers from Japan, and US and the company started to get profit. “In 2019, we will further promote solutions to improve productivity and quality to build brands and assert prestige” – Mr. Thao said.

In 2016, Smart Vietnam Company participated in the program of building a 5S practice model at Shoe & Mechanical manufacturing industry, supported by the Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam. After nearly 4 months of application, 5S tool has brought positive effects at Smart Vietnam Precision Mechanical Joint Stock Company:

• 100 m2 saved by the company when screening and reorganizing the mold assembly area;
• The adoption of 5S innovations has helped eliminate tough operations at wire-cut WC machines.
• Searching in the warehouse has been reduced from 3 minutes to 30 seconds thanks to the the sorting rule that all items are in view.
• The time spent on the knife installation process has been reduced from 6 minutes to 3 minutes thanks to the standardization and arrangement of details and tools so that they can be easily found and retrieved.
• The time spent on searching for bolts when assembling a complete set of molds has been reduced from 5 minutes to 2 minutes thanks to the arrangement of different types of bolts in separate trays.
