Smart Grid: Adapting the Industrial Revolution 4.0

That is shared by Mr. Tran Manh Sy – Director of PC Nam Dinh – after this unit completed the investment project to put the Remote Power Control and Management Center into operation.

Step by step modernize the grid

According to the orientation of the Government and Electricity of Vietnam, EVNNPC and PC Nam Dinh are investing in building smart grids to adapt to the changes of the 4.0 Technology Revolution with a focus on building remote control centers (ECE) and non-permanent TBA (KNT).

In September 2019, PC Nam Dinh completed the first phase of the project, bringing the 110kV Italian Yen and Direct KNT TBA into operation with an investment of more than VND 48 billion. The project has main items such as renovating control rooms, building new server systems, SCADA systems, camera systems, display systems, renovating TBA Italy Yen, Direct Ninh into KNT stations.

In order to best meet the operation of the SCT, the company has invested, built and operated 370km of private fiber optic cable, connecting from TBA 110kV to the SCT to ensure N-1. Equipped with 6 servers; LAN systems, transmission equipment, security systems … meet the highest standards for the safe and reliable operation of e-sctification.

Phase 2 of the project (2020 – 2021), PC Nam Dinh will renovate all 9 remaining 110kV TBA in Nam Dinh province into an unused, remotely controlled TBA, connecting all closed and cutting equipment on the medium voltage grid to the TTKX. At the same time, pilot the connection of the metering system on the low voltage grid of Ho Chi Minh City. Nam Dinh on E-ED. This is an important step in the modernization and automation of the electricity system according to the roadmap of building smart grid, contributing to improving labor productivity, increasing the reliability of electricity supply, power quality, ensuring political security, and socio-economic development in Nam Dinh province.

Initial effect

According to Mr. Tran Manh Sy, smart grid not only helps improve labor productivity, quality of electricity supply services but also helps to use energy economically and sustainably. The most obvious benefit when putting E-market into operation is to improve production efficiency, increase labor productivity. Previously, with 3 shifts of 5 crews, each traditional TBA required at least 10 employees to take turns on duty. However, when putting the ETC into operation and transferring the TBA to the KNT operating model, the modern operator at the SCT will manage, monitor and control the equipment at TBA.

Another advantage, when putting the EIA into operation, contributes to improving the reliability of electricity supply and power quality. If in the past, the operator at the 110kV TBA received and implemented the order of modern from the Northern Power System Moderist and The Coordinator of the distribution grid of Nam Dinh province, now, this is focused on a single clue is the EIA. Thereby, reducing the time of equipment operation, contributing to improving the reliability of power supply of the distribution grid. Along with that, the ability to detect early anolym may occur on the system, helping the unit quickly take timely measures to restore the normal operating mode of the system.

These results are considered as the foundation for PC Nam Dinh to continue implementing projects to autoily distribute power grid to improve the reliability of electricity supply, increase power quality, better meet the requirements of electricity supply to ensure political security, socio-economic development in Nam Dinh province.
