Rang Dong bulbs: Breakthrough thanks to innovation and continuous improvement

With the tradition of applying many different production management solutions such as Kaizen, 5S, BSC, Lean, Six Sigma, TPS, Rang Dong Water Bulbs JSC has maintained its position as a reliable manufacturer in the eyes of consumers for many years.

In the context of the explosion of technology applications due to the impact of the 4th Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0), finding new opportunities and new solutions to improve production and business capacity is one of the company’s top priorities. Over the past 20 years, Rang Dong Company has implemented quality management systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and accessed many innovation tools such as 5S, Lean, Kaizen, 6 Sigma BSC, TPM, to optimize production efficiency and lay a solid foundation for future innovation.

Recently, Rang Dong Company has also participated in the Overall Productivity Model project implemented by the Vietnam Productivity Institute with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Many new improvement methods have been applied at the Company such as line balance, waste reduction, production modeling, operation optimization, the results of this period have increased productivity lines by up to 30%, while before that only increased by 5-7%. On the other hand, the M26 trough line was previously able to assemble 3,000-4.000 products/shifts produced, through many improvements, productivity has increased by 25% to 10,000 products per shift, while the number of people withdrawn to half.

LED workshops and water plug workshops are two typical improvement groups of the Company. In the past, the system of furnaces in the workshops was natural furnaces, using fossil fuels. After applying the improvements, the company has invested in the electric glass furnace system, ensuring a clean, pollution-free green production environment. The new investment in 02 glass s stoves with no chimney technology has helped increase energy efficiency from 25% to 95%, the quality of output is uniform and stable. If in the past, a 20m3 oven only, cooked 25 tons of glass, now, the 18m3 oven can cook 36 tons of glass.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Kien – Manager of LED Workshop, Rang Dong Water Bulbs JSC said: The innovation movement has been focused by the company’s leaders many years ago. Mr. Kien gave a good example that the LED Bulb 7W.9W Assembly Line of the LED Workshop has been divided into 3 stages of improvement since the start of the first tools. After a series of improved solutions, labor productivity at the lines increased by an average of 30-50%. In particular, there are lines that increase over 200% productivity.
