Quang Quan Nha Trang applies 5S to improve production efficiency

Quang Quan Nha Trang One Member Limited Company specializes in manufacturing products from plastic and rubber. The Company’s products are disposable trays, bowls, cups, straws, etc, serving the domestic market.

Participating in the program “Improving the productivity and quality of products and goods of Vietnamese enterprises until 2020” supported by the government, the company has received the guidance of applying 5S tools from consultants from QUATEST 3.

Some problems causing waste to production activities of the Company have been pointed out by experts: At factories, furniture, tools, materials, raw materials are messy, so it takes a lot of time to find sword; many equipment, objects not necessary for work occupy the factory area; Currently, when the membrane is put into the vacuum cleaner and when the membrane is finished, transferring the semi-finished products to the die-cutting machines, it will have to travel quite a distance, which is a waste of time.

In order to reduce the above waste, the Company has carried out: Screening, arranging, identifying and repositioning tools and materials for convenience of use and management; Building 5S activity information board, intuitive management; 5S propaganda through banners, slogans, etc.

Result:

– The output of die cutting machines increases 12%, from 12,727,000 products / month to 14,261,350 products / month;

– The operating time of die cutting machine / month is reduced by 25%, from 672 h / machine to 560 h / machine;

– Increasing production output leads to a decrease in transportation costs by 58%, from VND 48,958,000 / month to VND 20,760,000 / month;

– The transportation distance from the time the membrane was put into the vacuum cleaner was reduced from 38m / time to 6m / time;

– The transportation distance from the vacuum cleaner to the die is reduced from 27 m / time to 11 m / time;

Only in a short time of applying Lean, Quang Quan Nha Trang has obtained very positive results.
