Quang Ngai PC: Improving electrical grid quality by digital technology

Quang Ngai PC is speeding up and deploying electrical grid operation by digital technology, in order to improve service quality, ensure continuous electricity supply to customers.

Currently, the Company has received and operated nearly 268km 110kV lines, including 9 transformer stations, a total capacity of 453 MVA; According to the schedule, eight non-duty transformer stations have been added, including Mo Duc, Tinh Phong, Tu Nghia, Dung Quat, Duc Pho, Binh Chanh, Quang Phu and VSIP stations. And one station, by the end of the first quarter of 2019, will be put into operation without personnel. The goal is to complete 100% of 110kV non-duty substations by 2020. The construction of non-duty substations is an essential requirement in the process of modernization, enhanced transmission capacity and safety and reliability for the national electricity system.

Mr. Vo Huu Man – Team Leader of the management team of high voltage electrical grid said that the Quang Ngai 110kV electrical grid supplies electricity to all loads, economy – politics for the province such as Vsip, Doosan, Hoa Phat industrial parks, Quang Phu Industrial Park and a part of residential areas of neighboring communes, districts and cities. The 110kV grid in Quang Ngai operates very reliably due to the high voltage, the ability to transmit electrical power away, providing electricity to Quang Nam and Binh Dinh provinces on a large area.

On December 31, 2018, Quang Ngai PC officially put into operation a 110kV VSIP non-duty substation (TBA), located in VSIP Industrial Park. TBA was started construction in July 2018, with a capacity of 02 transformers, the first stage was installed before 01 transformer 110/22kV-40MVA, 06 departed from 22kV, the main task was to provide electricity for the VSIP industrial load, especially the Xindadong factory load.

The work is invested by EVNCPC, assigned to the Central Rural Power Project Management Board to directly supervise and manage the project. This is a typical TBA in the process of perfecting the smart grid in the province, automatically controlling it with the operation of the Remote Control Center and SCADA system. In the new phase of operation, TIP 110kV VSIP is a semi-personnel model to monitor the operating equipment. After stable time, TBA will not need people on duty with fully automatic and modern operating and monitoring system.

The reception of the 110kV grid at the end of the year, the operation of the VSIP non-duty substation and the management of non-duty substations have improved the power supply capacity of Quang Ngai PC. This will create a consistent unity in the management and operation of the electrical grid from high voltage to medium voltage, reduce downtime of electricity supply, troubleshooting, optimizing investment, dealing with local overload phenomenon; suitable with the roadmap for building a smart grid, contributing to increasing labor productivity of electricity production and trading sector due to indirect labor reduction.

Quang Ngai province is promoting investment in industrial parks and clusters. The industrial development will lead to the increasing demand for electricity for production in the area. The main task of Quang Ngai PC is to build and develop the electrical grid system, ensuring the ability of electricity supply to serve industrial development, production and daily life.
