Quality factor contributes to competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises

Imexpharm is a pharmaceutical company operating more than 40 years in the market, with 20 years of investment in high quality products. The company determined that, with specific characteristics of pharmaceutical production and trading, it is a very special industry directly related to human health, so the quality factor is very important.

For more than 5 years, Imexpharm has accepted to face price competition pressure as well as policy changes to maintain sustainable development. The company has invested in a series of factories according to EU-GMP standards, invested in three modern management tools such as ERP, BSC and DMS, invested and developed and attracted human resources.

At the end of 2017, Imexpharm has 200 licensed and circulated products. In particular, 3 groups of special treatment products which are antipyretic, analgesic, antibiotics accounted for 80% of the value in recent years. Imexpharm’s 2017 revenue and profit increased by 16% compared to previous years.

Luong Quoi Coconut Processing Co., Ltd (Ben Tre province), a coconut processing enterprise is also a typical story. Luong Quoi has continuously researched and selected key products to invest and apply modern science and technology into the production process in order to get products of international standards on quality. The export capacity of this company has increased by 26 times since starting to operate the coconut centrifugal extraction technology with non-heating technology in 2014. Luong Quoi has obtained the most advanced product line of pure coconut oil.

Mr. Cu Van Thanh, Director of Luong Quoi Coconut Processing Co., Ltd. shared that controlling the production process has helped the Company raise 25% of the value of pure coconut oil products when exporting. Currently the company has the capacity to produce 5,000 tons of exported pure coconut oil/year. Pure coconut oil products are granted by the US Food and Pharmaceuticals Administration (US FDA) to meet the requirements of the US market, meeting BRC food standards in the EU market. Currently, VCO products of the Company are available in the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, Korea, Denmark, Germany, England, etc.

Meanwhile, products from natural medicinal materials of Thien Duoc Company, a small and medium-sized enterprise that won the Gold Award of the National Quality Award, successfully conquered the US market with its Crila functional food capsules. The product is made from Crinum latifolium with clean growing areas meeting GMP standards.

According to Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tram, Director of Thien Duoc Company, the company has a dry glue production process with the scale of 1 ton of dry leaf/batch material and capsule production technology with scale of 500,000 tablets/batch. In order to standardize products, the company has developed a process for extracting, isolating and refining pure standards.

Currently, this enterprise has joined hands with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences to produce pharmaceutical ingredients from the Crinum latifolium’s flowers, which provide support and active treatment for cancer patients after surgery.
