With the desire to reduce waste and improve equipment performance, in 2019, Phu Tho Textile Co., Ltd. (Phu Tho Textile) participated in the TPM (comprehensive productivity maintenance) program of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. With the support of consultants, the “difficult” problems of the machines have been completely resolved. In particular, the skin ring jamming problem at the processing machine to be closed – is the problem that occurs at the bottleneck of the yarn production line.
Data of skin ring jamming incidents are re-recorded. The improvement team based on that data identifies the priority area for improvement as machine number 1, workshop 3 because the number of incidents occurring in a month is the largest. The group’s goal is set so that the whole group works towards it.
After understanding the problem, grasping the operating principle of the part that often has problems, the whole team analyzed and learned the cause of the skin ring at the machine number 1. Maintenance and operator work together and find solutions.
Ms. Tang Thi Hong Loan – representative of the consultant group – said: At the beginning of the implementation, the group reduced the error of the machine skin ring jam from 27 times / month to 5 times / month, nearly reaching the target. original out. The team needs to continue to monitor the data and make improvements to achieve the goal. The group reduced product uniformity error at the draw frame by 30% when the evaluation index given by the group was not suitable. The cutting error reduction team at the pipe machine had to redo the root cause analysis due to the wide scope and the need for assistance from the workforce and the raw machine. At the same time, the Maintenance Operations Improvement Team aims to reduce one-month maintenance time from 170 minutes to 140 minutes by streamlining maintenance and adding support tools.
In the end, the improvement team had a 96% reduction in the number of loops that occurred at machine 1 – workshop 3. This result exceeded the expectations set by the group start-up. In addition, the group also developed new standards such as raw threading instructions, a one-point lesson when cleaning the machine. These documents have been approved and issued for internal training for workstation area staff.
Ms. Ngo Thi Dam – Deputy Director of Phu Tho Textile – said, by strengthening group improvement activities, members of the company’s TPM Board were trained and practiced methods of analysis and improvement. , in order to improve the overall equipment performance of the whole line. Thereby, employees are enhanced proactivity, presentation ability, teamwork spirit and above all, the work cooperation between departments before and now has been significantly improved.
“With the achieved results, the efforts of the group, the machinery system of the company has been significantly improved. I hope that the group will continue to apply the method to improve the next topics of the company ”- stressed Ms. Ngo Thi Dam.
The TPM program at Phu Tho Textile Co., Ltd. is deployed to step 3 and receives support from leaders to managers and employees of the company.
