Reduce the workforce at substations (TBA) 110kV, detect problems early on the grid and promptly repair, overcome, improve the reliability of the power supply are the benefits that Vinh Phuc Power Company (PC) achieved when implementing the Smart Grid Development Project.
Mr. Tran Duc Tai – Deputy Head of The Modey Department, PC Vinh Phuc – said that PC Vinh Phuc is one of 8 units that the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) is interested in investing in the Remote Control Center (TTDKX) and TBA from the end of October 2016, completed in December 2017 and officially operated from July 1, 2018. The process of implementing the project faced many difficulties due to the long-invested 110kV TBA, so the equipment is not synchronized, outdated with old technology. Therefore, the company has used alternative renovation solutions to meet the requirements of remote connection to the E-market.
Due to limited funding, in the process of implementation, old devices are not replaced, PC Vinh Phuc has applied many solutions to renovate and connect substation 110kV . In addition, the medium-voltage equipment on the grid is also connected to the with 110 control buttons. Thus, it will contribute to flexible operation, shortening the power outage time for customers, ensuring the power access targets as well as the reliability of the company’s electricity supply to achieve good indicators. “The implementation has been learned by us: The first stage of selecting the equipment with the best technology on the grid to ensure the connection of the EIA is not difficult. All projects are implemented after putting the ETC into operation, the company is interested in selecting partners, equipment contractors to meet smart criteria” – Mr. Tran Duc Tai said.
On July 15, 2019, PC Vinh Phuc operated the TTKX and 7/7 TBA 110kV according to the criteria of remote operation of non-people on duty, completely withdrawing the operational supervisor from the station. At the same time, the number of 30 employees in TBA 110 kV has been built into 3 mobile operation team, each team has 10 managers 3 TBA 110 kV under the regime of 3 shifts 5 crews, tasked with monitoring, monitoring, handling and responding promptly to incidents occurring at TBA 110kV. This saves a lot of manpower directly operating in 110kV TBA as before.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hai – Head of SCT, PC Vinh Phuc, since the operation of the ETC, the number of operations away from TBA 110kV more than 84,892 times with the success rate over 99.71%. In particular, remote operation of 110kV and medium-voltage devices over 5.166 times with success rate (95.86%), remote operation of substation of substsing (MBA) 110kV 79,726 times, success (99.96%). The 110kV TBA is connected 100% by fiber optic cable ensured according to the 1+1 backup criteria for all 110kV TBA on SDG. In particular, for the deployment of smart grid by mini SCADA data monitoring system, controlling the medium voltage grid, since 2013, PC Vinh Phuc has been a pioneer in EVNNPC deploying mini SCADA systematic to operate the medium voltage grid.
Up to now, the remote grid control system at PC Vinh Phuc has connected to 110 device locations on the medium voltage grid. In addition, in 2020, PC Vinh Phuc has implemented a portfolio of “Building a system to connect the SCADA medium voltage grid to Pc Vinh Phuc SDG” with the total scale integrated into the SCADA system, adding 95 equipment positions on the medium voltage grid. When completed, the company will have 205 remote control buttons on the grid.
With the trend of modernizing the power sector, operating smart grid, PC Vinh Phuc will continue to promote the application of modern technology of distribution grid management (SCADA- DMS); medium voltage grid circuits to improve the reliability of electricity supply as well as the satisfaction of electricity customers.
