Recognizing the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and the Industrial Revolution 4.0, many workers and employees have been actively learning to improve skills, improve labor productivity, and absorb and apply advanced science – technology to labor – production to be able to stick with the job for a long time.
Consciousness rises
Working for 14 years at SWCC Showa Vietnam Co., Ltd. is that time, Mr. Le Van Giap always tries his best to find the difference and efficiency at work. Initially taking on the role of a production worker, after being trusted by the Board of Directors to be a factory manager, he always does a good job at any position.
Giap said that in order to meet the requirements of professional work, he was always self-conscious in his work and endeavored, trying to successfully complete the assigned tasks. In addition, he proactively explores, learns and promotes creative ideas and technical improvements to improve productivity and product quality. Over time, he launched the initiative “Improving the method of rubber injection” which has benefited the company nearly three billion VND / year. Up to now, his initiative is still being applied at the company’s factory.
Sharing about his own relentless efforts, Giap said, from the practical work, realizing that raw materials are being wasted, the production efficiency did not meet the requirements urged him to find out. Change, research, he found that it is very necessary to improve the method of rubber injection in the production process, contributing to avoid waste for the company. From there, he proposed ideas to the company management. After getting the approval, he started to change the structure of the rubber intake pipeline to stabilize the amount of rubber into the product. As a result, the input material sources have been minimized and the production increased.
In parallel with improving labor productivity, creating the best quality products, his company always focuses on human resource training and development programs.
According to a recent report from the General Statistics Office, for the 2011-2018 period, labor productivity increased on average by 4.88% / year. Although Vietnam’s labor productivity has been much improved in recent years, it is still low and still quite a distance from other countries in the region. For example, Singapore has 13.7 times higher labor productivity than Vietnam; Malaysia is 5.3 times higher; Thailand is 2.7 times higher. Vietnam only ranks above Cambodia in ASEAN in terms of labor productivity.
Some of the main reasons leading to this situation are due to the small size of the Vietnamese economy and the slow process of economic restructuring. In addition, the economic and labor restructuring, though in a positive direction, is still slow; machines, equipment and technological processes are out of date; limited quality of human resources, etc.
