Outstanding technologies in manufacturing industry in 2019 (Part 2)

We will continue to learn about the technologies that have become the trend of the manufacturing industry in this section.

  1. Cloud computing

Cloud technology has brought many benefits to businesses in recent years. Up to now, 90% of companies have used cloud applications for their services, particularly in 2019 in the US, approximately 124.6 billion dollars have been used for this application. This figure worldwide is at 210 billion dollars, up 23.8% compared to 2018.

The way businesses use cloud technology is growing. Boundary computing, rated by users as a “new cloud computing” post, is becoming increasingly popular. It helps reduce latency and bandwidth usage by bringing the repository closer to the data source.

  1. Transported by drone equipment

Transporting goods by drones has been tested by many companies around the world in 2019, including Amazon, Uber Eats and Apple. However, Wing, a subsidiary of Google and UPS, became the first companies to receive FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) certification for flying drones.

Wing is a company that is allowed to use drones in which one person can control multiple flying devices at the same time. The company made its first transit flight in October in Christianburg, Virginia. They also plan to provide transportation for more than 22,000 people in the town with supplies such as medicine, food, or even FedEx packages.

Meanwhile, UPS was the first company licensed for 135 flight standards – allowing them to use an unlimited number of drones. CVS health is working with UPS to test a drone dispensing service, allowing the company to ship products within 10 days of receiving the order.

One of the most successful drone shipping companies is Zipline – valued at up to $ 1.2 billion. Zipline provides the most urgent medical services such as blood, vaccines in Rwanda and Ghana, serving a large area of about 22 million people.

However, the industry is still facing problems such as safety, weather effects, operating range or noise pollution caused by drones.

  1. Artificial intelligence (AI)

Amazon defines AI as “a form of computer science that solves problems related to the use of intelligence such as learning, solving existing pattern recognition exercises.”

Twitter uses – machine learning – an aspect of AI to identify hostile, terrorist posts on this site. Amazon’s Alexa uses voice recognition to perform various tasks, HDFC bank creates AI named EVA to collect data from thousands of sources to provide customers in just 0.4 seconds.

  1. Virtual reality and augmented reality (VR&AR)

VR and AR technology are forecast to sell about 14 million devices in 2019.

VR equipment takes users into 3-dimensional space of the computer AR, meanwhile, adds features right into the user’s field of vision (such as snapchat glasses or Pokemon Go).

In industrial manufacturing, AR has become extremely useful for users, it provides employees with machine information, equipment and alerts when necessary. AR technology can also be used in distance training, design and technical support.
