On April 17, in Hanoi, the Directorate for Standard, Metrology and Quality (Ministry of Science and Technology) held a press conference to announce the results of the National Quality Award in 2017. This is the only quality prize for businesses in the system of international quality awards Asia – Pacific.
The National Quality Award is awarded annually to enterprises with outstanding achievements in improving the quality of products, services, competitiveness and operational efficiency, contributing for the community and society.
In 2017, the National Quality Award is awarded to 73 enterprises, of which 15 are awarded the National Quality Gold Award. Besides, on the basis of the results of enterprises achieving the National Quality Award in 2015 and 2016, the Asia-Pacific Quality Organization (APQO) announced the results of the Asia-Pacific International Quality Award in 2017 for 4 Vietnamese enterprises.
At the press conference, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Van Tung said that over the past 20 years of establishment and development, the National Quality Award has attracted special attention and created a reputation for businesses, management agencies as well as consumers in society; honor enterprises that achieve outstanding achievements in improving the quality of products, services, competitiveness and operational efficiency.
“In order for the National Quality Award to contribute more to the productivity-quality movement, I propose the Directorate of Standard, Metrology and Quality – the permanent agency of the prize, to continue implementing more effectively the national quality assessment activities, taking orientation for enterprises to approach the prize as an important tool to comprehensively evaluate activities and results of production and business with international standards through award criteria “- Deputy Minister Tran Van Tung emphasize.
Sharing more specifically about the criteria of the National Quality Award, Mr. Tran Van Vinh – General Director of the Directorate for Standard, Metrology and Quality said, the National Quality Award is considered to be awarded to 4 types of organizations and enterprises which are large production, small and medium production, large service, small and medium service. Besides, 7 criteria of the National Quality Award include: the role of leadership, strategic planning, customer-oriented, knowledge measurement, analyzation and management, human resource orientation, operation process management, performance results. The evaluation and selection of the National Quality Award is conducted at two levels: provincial prequalification council and national council.
The National Quality Award supports enterprises to use self-assessment methods on the basis of matching their activities with the criteria of the award to determine the status of management qualifications and quality, identify achievements and weaknesses, opportunities for success and mission for the future, thereby setting appropriate improvements.
“The National Quality Award helps leaders of businesses realize the benefits of applying standards, advanced management systems in production and business activities, mobilizing all available resources, directing and attracting people to join build, apply and complement the management system to improve productivity, quality and competitiveness of products, as well as being ready to satisfy customers’ requirements ”- Mr. Tran Van Vinh said.
