National Quality Award 2018: Honoring Vietnam businesses

On June 18, the Directorate for Standards and Quality (Ministry of Science and Technology) held a press conference to award the National Quality Award (NQA); Asia-Pacific International Quality Award 2018.

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Van Tung, Chairman of the National Quality Council for the year 2018, said that NQA is the only award of quality at the national level to honor businesses awarded by the Prime Minister and included in the Asia-Pacific International Quality Award system.

Accordingly, as of May 30, 2018, there are nearly 130 enterprises registering to attend the National Quality Award in 2018. Through review and evaluation on the dossier and in enterprises, there are 80 enterprises of 39 provinces and cities eligible to follow the criteria of the prize.

On May 10, 2019, the Prime Minister officially signed Decision No. 543 / QD-TTg on the granting of the National Quality Award for 75 enterprises, of which 22 were awarded the National Quality Gold Award and 53 were awarded the National Quality Award. Statistics on revenue of 75 enterprises reached 106,000 billion VND; estimated profit of over VND 10,000 billion; pay the budget nearly 8,000 billion VND; create jobs for more than 55,000 employees.

Through 24 years of establishment and development, there are 1,914 enterprises achieving Quality Awards. In which, there are 240 enterprises winning Gold Award. In particular, among Vietnamese enterprises that have achieved the National Quality Award, there are 46 typical enterprises honored at the international level and awarded the International Asia – Pacific Quality Award (GPEA). In particular, in the last 3 years (2016-2018), the estimated revenue of the winning enterprises is more than 500,000 billion VND; profit is over VND 36,000 billion; paid more than 32,000 billion VND to the budget. Creating jobs for nearly 170,000 workers.

National Quality Award has attracted special attention and created prestige for businesses, management agencies as well as consumers in society; honoring the merits of enterprises that have achieved outstanding achievements in improving the quality of products, services, competitiveness and performance, and integrating with the regional and world economies.

Through the criteria of the National Quality Award, Vedan Company helped them learn, self-check and evaluate the quality management systems in general and the company’s own system for product quality. During such continuous assessment, there are problems, the company will make timely remedy. In addition, there will be continuous improvements to improve the quality of products to better contribute to the company’s sustainable development.
