Currently, supporting industry is one of the areas of great concern and attention of the Government of Vietnam. The system of legal normative documents in this field has been formed and improved, policies to support supporting industry development and preferential policies for supporting industries are also being implemented.

However, the current competitiveness of enterprises supplying parts and accessories in Vietnam is still weak, the number of enterprises meeting the strict requirements of quality and deeply participating in the global supply chain of multinational corporations including Samsung are limited. In order to improve the competitiveness of enterprises, enabling Vietnamese enterprises to participate in global supply chains, the quality improvement of consultants in Vietnam is one of the key factors.

In parallel with the training program for Vietnamese core specialists, Samsung Vietnam continues to implement innovative consulting programs for potential Vietnamese businesses undertaken by Korean experts. After three months of consulting, businesses reported significant results in production reforms and competitiveness enhancement.

By the end of 2018, it is expected that 38 Vietnamese enterprises will be consulted in this program, including 4 businesses that were consulted in 2015, 10 businesses in 2016, 12 businesses in 2017 and it is expected that 12 businesses will be consulted in 2018.

With the commitment to join hands to develop Vietnam’s supporting industry and efforts to find and connect with Vietnamese suppliers, the number of Vietnamese enterprises which is Samsung’s first-class supplier strongly increased from 4 enterprises in 2014 to 29 enterprises in 2017, with expected to reach 50 businesses in 2020.
