Initial results of the TPM Program at Vitto Company Limited

The TPM program at Vitto Company, which was deployed in the kiln area, the grinder of the factory in Tam Duong, Vinh Phuc, initially brought some good results.

Through surveying the potential of applying TPM, we found that the company has many opportunities to influence the machine care skills of operators and maintainers and further promote innovation, Consulting and public leadership. The company agreed to deploy the technical contents of the three pillars, including: Key Improvement (FI), Self-Administration Maintenance (AM), and Planning Maintenance (PM). During the TPM implementation period from June to December 2020, the Program’s goal is to improve the capacity of operators in self-maintenance activities; Develop and complete the periodic equipment maintenance schedule, spare parts and spare parts list and control the repair costs, storage spare parts; Make improvements to increase business productivity / quality / efficiency, and establish and maintain monitoring of the OEE Overall Equipment Performance Index.

Regarding self-management and 5S maintenance, Vitto Company has applied 5S with previous monthly assessment and maintenance activities. However, when implementing TPM in the kiln area, realizing that the department has the potential to perform 5S better, the consulting unit combined 5S instruction in parallel with TPM. Operators in furnace and grinder sections have been familiarized with and perform abnormal tagging at the equipment. Basic equipment care forms are being developed for operators in some of the pilot areas of the kiln and grinder unit, which are expected to expand to the rest of the area later.

Regarding planned maintenance, the consultant instructed the calculation of MTBF maintenance quality assessment indicators and MTTR maintainer’s skills, and instructed to build maintenance schedules based on the condition of the equipment, direction guide analysis of stop problems for components. These activities will be practically applied by the maintenance team in the coming time.

Regarding key improvements, a number of improvement topics have been implemented such as: Reducing corner errors, product enameling; 10% reduction in power consumption at air compressors; Improved tugging system at colored enamel factory to reduce shaft breakage and reduce belt replacement time. All improvement topics involve operations, maintenance and related departments. The OEE index collected from July to September shows that OEE increased by 5-10% in kilns and grinders through innovative and self-maintenance solutions implemented.
