Moving towards green production and environmental protection, many industrial enterprises have made investments and improvements to reduce electricity and improve production efficiency.

Hoa Phat Group with characteristics of multidisciplinary and multi-sector industrial production; in which iron and steel production is the major field using electricity, coal, etc. However, with the application of technology to production, many of the Group’s factories have been able to actively use electricity demand for nearly 50%, even up to 70%.

According to the representative of Hoa Phat Group, in the Complex in Hai Duong, the blast furnace technology is 100% self-contained, does not discharge into the environment, all waste, exhaust gas and wastewater are thoroughly treated. In addition, the complex selects the most advanced ultra-clean heat recovery coking technology in the world today, environmentally friendly.

This is a technology to produce clean coke coal that recovers heat to meet environmental standards under a clean development mechanism, reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This technology eliminates all toxic gas, smoke and toxic chemicals generated from the process of coking coal, only recovers heat energy to run generators, helping Hoa Phat proactively nearly 50% of electricity demand for manufacturing.

With the production complex in Dung Quat and Quang Ngai, the Group’s autonomous power output is expected to reach 60-70%, bringing significant economic value to Hoa Phat.

Hoa Phat Group also applies many measures to treat dust generated in production such as electrostatic precipitator, cloth bag filter, wet dust filter, building wall systems, planting trees to prevent dust spread, sound absorption. The amount of iron-containing dust recovered during the process of iron and steel refining and rolling are reused at the production stages, saving costs and improving the working environment.

Another group, Son Ha Group is also making great efforts to reduce the amount of power consumed in production, towards cleaner production. According to the sharing of Mr. Le Vinh Son, Chairman of Son Ha Group, in response to the Earth Hour 2019 campaign, Son Ha Group not only implemented production and supply to the market of products using energy sources. Renewable products such as hot water equipment (turning solar energy into thermal energy), Biogas (producing gas from household and agricultural wastes), etc. that Son Ha Group also applies energy efficiency, resulting in up to 30% reduction in energy costs for production.

Specifically, the initiatives are actively applied by businesses such as new technologies that consume less energy in production stages, use LEDs, arrange scientific machines and proceed to install rooftop solar PV.
