Good implementation of corporate social responsibility will not only help enterprises do business effectively, but also support businesses to solve strategic issues related to business and social issues.
In the survey of the BP500 chart – 500 prosperous Vietnamese enterprises in 2018 implemented by Vietnam Report recently announced, increasing productivity is the strategy evaluated by enterprises to rank second in the top 3 strategies (with nearly 60% of feedback), surpassing the goal of “Cutting down costs of enterprises” in 2016.
It can be seen that enterprises have increasingly affirmed the importance of increasing productivity during operation. One of the most important solutions that experts and enterprises in Vietnam Report survey agreed on promoting productivity growth, creating momentum for sustainable development is to promote comprehensive awareness on corporate social responsibility (CSR). This is the goal of the enterprises in the coming time to combine the labor force and technology to achieve optimal efficiency. 62.9% of enterprises stated that they are automating certain functions in enterprises, 48.6% affirmed to train the labor force on how to use data.
It can be said that corporate social responsibility as a guarantee asset, a commitment to product quality for consumers. Nearly 90% of surveyed businesses identified the reputation of enterprises as a driving force for enterprises to implement CSR activities. In other words, the social responsibility is the ladder for businesses to convince consumers and the community.
The enterprises that participated in the survey also said that the issue of implementing CSR in Vietnam now faces some certain difficulties, of which three are the main challenges: that is the awareness of CSR stopping at sponsorship activities; lack of incentives and support policies from the Government; and the business itself thinks that CSR activities do not bring benefits for businesses.
In fact, standing on the threshold of comprehensive integration, compliance with corporate social responsibility commitments does not seem to be promoted and cared for properly. Over time, there are still many reports of frauds, corruption in business or mistakes in financial statements, failing to ensure labor safety, causing environmental pollution, etc.
Implementing social responsibility should not be merely activities of promotion, charity, but also must come from the sense of environmental protection, ensuring the lives of workers, complying with the laws. At the same time, implementing social responsibility is not only a separate funding, but requires continuity, long-term commitment and throughout the process of operation, in the direction and in the vision of the business.
The survey said that in order for businesses to implement their responsibilities to society more comprehensively and methodically, the Government is also an indispensable factor, standing as a bridge between businesses and society through business support programs.
