Implement solutions to improve the productivity and quality of the textile industry

Current situation of productivity and quality of the textile industry

The textile and garment industry is one of the key industries that are bringing many economic values of our country. In the past ten years, domestic textile and garment products have continuously improved in quality and received good feedback from customers. Thanks for promoting the competitive advantages of low input costs (labor costs, rental costs of land, electricity, water …) and the demand for textile yarns in the world are gradually increasing, Vietnam textile and garment industry have many potentials to find their position in the domestic and international markets.

However, the productivity and quality problems of textile products are not even. Some units have high labor productivity, good quality but also have inefficient operation units, low labor productivity, and poor quality. Highly qualified workers, modern technology lines and systematization of production processes are bottlenecks to be addressed.

In the whole country, in 2012, the average productivity of the yarn industry reached about 1,340 tons / ten thousand spindles, ranging from 1,000-2,200 tons /ten thousand spindles. The garment industry needs to use about 7 billion meters of fabric while the total domestic production of fabric is only about 1 billion meters of fabric. Our country has to import 6 billion meters of fabric, equivalent to 86% of total demand. By 2017, this figure has reached 1.2 million tons of imported cotton yarn, equivalent to 5.508 bales, an increase of 20% compared to the previous crop. Based on the criteria such as the average development level of the spinning industry in Vietnam, the demand for cotton yarns in the world and the positive forecasts about global cotton supply, the volume of imported cotton yarns in Vietnam continues to increase to 1.38 million tons, up 15% from the previous year.

In general, product quality is the main reason that our country’s textile industry still depends heavily on imported products, so it is necessary to implement measures to improve quality productivity.

The solution to improve the quality of textile products

General solutions to improve productivity and quality of textile products include training of human resource capacity: staff planning, internal training, building recruitment mechanisms to attract employees who are management level, technician, and skilled workers.

For management, the application of management standards systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, SA8000, WRAP, ISO / IEC 17025, ISO 50001, ISO 26000 … systems of product quality and methods European test (EN), American (ASTM, AATCC), Japanese (JIS) … is the leading solution. Through which businesses can build a system of technical standards in the textile industry in harmony with the system of international standards.

One of the most important factors to improve management is supported by business leaders. Business leaders must always have a spirit of marketing, continuous improvement and willingness to share and commit to a long-term commitment to the benefits of the factory and the collective of employees, clearly assigning responsibilities to each public position work from Director to workers when problems arise.

On the other hand, the working environment in factories and workshops has been improved to ensure labor safety and hygiene. The environment should always be well-ventilated, moisture stable and suitable for production technology, neat and tidy through standardizing the system of ventilation and vacuuming in the machinery space.

In order to do this, the company has invested in supplementing and replacing exhaust and exhaust fan systems to ensure the optimum moisture content in the machinery space in accordance with technological requirements; Replace the fan motor with dust blowing capacity with appropriate, regular industrial cleaning areas of dust filter, dust filter bags.
