The steel industry is one of the industries using large-scale energy and fuel sources. In order to save energy and contribute to improving the competitiveness of products, Hoa Phat Steel Joint Stock Company Hai Duong has implemented a number of energy-saving solutions in the production process, helping save over VND 500 billion VND per year for businesses.
As one of the leading enterprises of Vietnam steel industry, in recent years, the Company has applied many basic solutions to save energy, such as technological changes, best equipment investment, installation the inverter runs for large motors with variable loads, etc.
Along with environmental and social efficiency, each year, the solutions have benefited economically for businesses with hundreds of billion dong.
First of all, the solution to take advantage of superheated steam for the kitchen to cook for 5,000 officials and employees of the company. Accordingly, superheated steam is produced in the steelmaking and rolling process, this steam has a temperature of over 150 – 200 degrees Celsius and a pressure of 6.5 bar has led to the product. From here, the steam is directed to several stages of production, such as sintering, plating, etc. At the same time, the pressure is reduced to 4 bars leading to 4 kitchens of the complex and replacing the previously used gas.
Mr. Do Duc Don – Deputy Director of the Company shared that the process of taking advantage of this has many advantages such as: Safety during operation, cooking; do not cause an explosion; less equipment investment; reduce the cost of using gas in the kitchen, etc. According to statistics, a month can save about 200 million VND compared to having to use gas.
To solve the problem of high fuel consumption in the incinerator which is caused by high humidity in the air, the company has used the air dehumidifier before putting it into the blast furnace. As a result, the normal air humidity of 18.6g / Nm3 will be reduced to 12.4g / Nm3 and the burning fuel (coal) brought into the kiln will be reduced by 4kg / ton of product (liquid cast iron water). In addition, when the cold air flow is dried into the furnace, the furnace operation will be much more convenient. It is estimated that with such savings, after 1.5-2 years, the investment in equipment can be refunded.
Another solution that also brings high efficiency for the company, is to use coke furnace hot gas to run a turbine generator. Currently, the company invests and operates 4 thermo-electric generators with a total designed capacity of 60 MW with a voltage of 6.3 kV. This generated electricity is combined with the power supply for the complex. Therefore, the amount of electricity that can provide 1/3 of the total power consumption of the whole the complex, is the amount of electricity generated after subtracting it is about 30-35MW. If calculated based on the current average industrial electricity price, the amount of this generation can be estimated to be VND 40.3 billion per month (Q = 35000 * 24 * 30 * 1600 = 40.3 billion / 1 month) .
In particular, in 2018, the company also applies a trial run of energy-saving power pumps. The result, after testing the energy-saving pump at the same flow rate and pressure, gives 15 – 18% savings compared to the type of pump used. In 2019, the company has applied this type of pump, estimated to save more than 3 million kWh of electricity per year.
Mr. Do Duc Don – Deputy Director of Hoa Phat Steel Joint Stock Company Hai Duong: Currently, the company has autonomy of nearly 50% of electricity for the complex. It is expected that by 2020, after renovating and installing 50MW generating sets with coal gas and coke furnace heat, the amount of electricity will be autonomous to 75-80% of the electricity plan used. The Board of Directors of the company also agreed with the program to adjust the electric load and the plan of Hai Duong Power One Member Limited Company to propose to register the maximum reduction of 13MW. |
