Dormer Pramet is the result of a 2014 merger between two well-known manufacturers, Dormer rotary tools and mechanical consulting firm Pramet. This combination has opened up a new opportunity for the company’s products to reach more customers, especially in Europe and South America.
Recently, Dormer Pramet has launched a system of fast changing tools with high accuracy for many applications both inside and outside.
Ideally used on multi-tasking machines, the polygonal shaft coupling (PSC) is a spindle interface that increases productivity through reduced setup times and faster, more precise machining.
It achieves this thanks to a slim and flanged polygonal cone body that supports high rigidity. With accuracy in the X, Y, and Z directions of ± 2μm, the PSC stand offers a high degree of repeatability.
In addition, the reduced overhang length minimizes vibration and inaccuracy for high-quality surface finish, making it ideal for general aerospace and machining applications.
Connected by a conical structure and triangular cross-section, using a 1/20 taper, the PSC has internal cooling channels and a steel tool holder for high strength. More than 130 different items are available, including a wide variety of tool holder designs, internal tools, various surface types and body sizes.
In order to ensure transparency of quality parameters, Dormer Pramet has applied ISO 13399 to their products. ISO 13399 is the international standard for cutting and turning tool information. It provides parameters and parameters in a neutral format independent of any particular system or company nomenclature. When cutting tools are clearly defined by global standards, all types of software can process electronic data faster, improve communication quality, and make communication smooth.
Accordingly, customers using Dormer Pramet’s services will be consulted and supported according to a standardized process, making it easier for them to distinguish parameters, especially when the database is provided. Up to 40,000 different parameters can be used.
With 20 offices in more than 100 countries around the world, Dormer Pramet’s products are increasingly asserting their position in the market. “Our ambition is to become the leading global supplier of metal cutting tools for the engineering industry in general by 2020,” said Stefan Steenstrup, President of Dormer Pramet.
