Hau Giang: Integrating solutions to improve quality productivity for the processing industry

As one of the most important areas of agricultural – forestry – aquatic products export in our country, Hau Giang province is constantly improving its management methods to meet the increasingly stringent requirements from fastidious markets in the world.

In order to ensure the quality as well as expand the scale of export of agricultural – forestry – aquatic products, it is necessary to apply various types of improvement tools and management systems for processing industries. Food safety certifications such as HACCP, FSSC 2000 or quality management standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001… are becoming necessary and sufficient conditions for processing enterprises in the province to have a competitive edge contend with the world market.

Being aware of this, the Department of Science and Technology of Hau Giang province has approved the implementation plan of the project ” Improving product and goods quality of enterprises in Hau Giang province”. Many goods and products of enterprises have been improved in quality and a stable production scale. According to the Hau Giang Department of Science and Technology, over the past time, the project has supported 7 businesses. It is Can Tho Sugar Joint Stock Company (Casuco) registering “Building and applying food safety system according to FSSC 22000 standard”; Tan Hau Giang restaurant is registering “Building HACCP food safety quality management system for spiced fish with sliced ​​fish, freshly sliced ​​fish ball, spiced fish, dried fish”; Gia Dat Trading Production One Member Co., Ltd registered “Building and applying quality management system according to Vietnam Standards TCVN ISO 9001: 2015″… Total funding from the state budget for enterprises participating in the project during the period of more than 1.03 billion VND.

Typical for maintaining good implementation of improvement tools and management systems to improve quality products can be mentioned as 2 sugar factories of Can Tho Sugar Joint Stock Company (Casuco), which is Enterprise Vi Thanh road and Phung Hiep sugar factory. Both factories have applied the quality management system according to the international standard ISO 9001 since 2001 to create the best quality products for customers. Not only that, in 2013, Casuco continued to apply the food safety and hygiene management system according to the International Standard ISO 22000 to demonstrate responsibility, commitment to customers and successfully built up a long-term reputation with many domestic and foreign partners.

Following these successes, this year, the Department of Standards, Metrology, and Quality of Hau Giang province will continue to coordinate training and guidelines to determine the topics of productivity and quality improvement applied in enterprises. From that, assess the effectiveness before and after the project.
