In 2019, Ha Tu Coal Joint Stock Company – one of the first six industrial production enterprises of Quang Ninh province was granted a certificate of “enterprises using energy economically and efficiently”, and save over 4 billion dong thanks to the economical and efficient use of energy solutions.

As one of the key energy-consuming enterprises of Quang Ninh province, fully aware of the important role of energy saving in production, Ha Tu Coal has increased investment in installing energy-saving devices, contribute to reducing production costs.

With the support from energy consultants of the Department of Industry and Trade and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) through the Technical Cooperation Project to promote green growth in Ha Long Bay area, Quang Ninh province in phase II, Ha Tu Coal conducted an energy audit. In fact, Ha Tu Coal has issued regulations to save electricity throughout the enterprise. Replacing the motors in accordance with the load, to control the operating capacity during peak hours, to replace construction lights and workshops with energy-saving lamps and to install automatic switching equipment, etc, help reduce energy consumption by 5-10% throughout the company.

Besides, the company has re-planned a reasonable power supply system; Replacing control devices and protective devices with high reliability, adding capacitors to ensure Cosa coefficients; replace motors with capacity suitable to the load; Automatic maintenance of the inverter; installing electricity metering meters for large power-consuming devices at construction sites, workshops, etc. In particular, the company implements power contracts and periodically saves energy checks for each production unit to manage power sources and create a production emulation movement. Thereby, it has contributed to reducing energy consumption costs, saving operating costs effectively in the company.

In parallel, Ha Tu Coal has applied GPS positioning technology to manage, operate, install fuel monitoring monitoring systems for automobile equipment, mining machinery, etc. Thereby, doing well the management, enhancing the discipline and self-discipline of workers in economical and efficient use of electricity and fuel.

As a result, in 2018, Ha Tu Coal has saved nearly 213,000kW (equivalent to VND 329 million). In 2019, the unit saved nearly 160,000kW of electricity (equivalent to nearly VND 250 million) and nearly 60,000 liters of diesel (equivalent to VND 3.8 billion). In the coming time, in order to contribute to the goal of saving from 5 to 10% of the energy used compared with the level assigned by the Coal and Mineral Industry Group, Ha Tu Coal will continue to review and gradually eliminate equipment have technology outdated and consume a lot of energy in production; Concentrate on investing in advanced equipment to reduce energy consumption.

In 2019, Than Tu Tu was granted the certificate of Energy saving and efficient use by Quang Ninh Province People’s Committee and JICA. The certificate is valid for a period of 3 years.
