Great efficiency from smart grid management

The application of modern science and technology to the management of the transmission grid, especially the application of the unmanned substation (TBA) model (KNT) has helped Power Transmission Company 1 (PTC1) reduce labor, increase power grid operation efficiency.

Catch up with new trends

As a member of the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), PTC1 is managing and operating 10,268 km of lines and 67 220kV – 500 kV substations with operations spread across 28 provinces and cities in the North. complex terrain. This causes difficulties in the management and operation of the power grid, so investment in new technology in the stages of automating the inspection, repair, remote operation, and construction of substations is always set out by PTC1.

Mr. Nguyen Phuc An – Director of PTC1 – said: Smart grid efficiency has been practically proven, helping businesses optimize management, operation costs of the grid, diversify the power generation, improve electricity efficiency, ensure power quality as well as more services for customers, etc. In 2017, PTC1 launched 3 remote control centers (TTVH) and 8 substations. first put into operation, creating a great step in the modern industrial revolution. “In the early days of implementing the model of KNT and PTC1, many difficulties and challenges were encountered. The transmission grid system is spread over a large area, the substations are far from each other, creating disadvantages in the stage of remote control and inspection of the machine operation of TTVH. Moreover, the conversion of traditional staffed stations to KNT substations requires the Board of Directors of the Company to calculate and solve employment problems for employees to be rearranged” – Mr. Nguyen Phuc An shared.

Identifying technology as the foundation of sustainable development, with the goal of constantly improving and improving efficiency in the management and operation of the transmission grid system, in recent years, PTC1 has actively applied using software, building information technology infrastructure such as: Technical Management Software (Pmis); human resource management (HRM); SCADA-EMS system, online oil monitoring system, incident recording system, incident location system; complete Data Center data center connecting NPT with other units.

The “sweet fruits”

Up to now, after a period of actively implementing KNT substations, PTC1 has put into operation a number of TV stations, remotely controlled through transmission channels such as Mai Dong TTVH, which manages 3 220kV Long Bien, Kim Dong, Bac Ninh substations. 2; Nam Dinh Railway Station manages 3 substations 220kV Nam Dinh, Thai Thuy, Truc Ninh; Phu Tho Station is managing 2 substations 220kV Phu Tho and Tuyen Quang; Nong Cong Station manages 2 substations of 220 kV Nong Cong and Bim Son; Ha Dong Railway Station manages 2 substations 220 kV Thanh Cong and Son Tay; and the current subsidiaries are managing 1 substation: Bac Kan, Bao Lam, Hai Duong 2, Hai Ha, Than Uyen. According to the roadmap, in the coming time, 1 TTVH will manage and operate from 3 – 5 KNT substations.

Mr. Dinh Nguyen Hoang – Head of Nam Dinh TV Center – shared: Nam Dinh TTVH is almost the first center of PTC1 and EVNNPT when applying the management of the UAS model. We have actively researched, created, and responded to the new trend. After more than 1 year of operating the KNT substation, productivity and efficiency of workers at the station is not only guaranteed but also improved.

In the coming time, PTC1 will continue to complete and put into operation Quang Chau, Luu Xa, Vinh Yen, Ha Giang, Bao Thang, Thanh Nghi, Dinh Vu, etc. TV stations according to the plan assigned by EVNNPT. At the same time, deploying training, inspecting and recruiting operators into TTVH; urgently review the operating substations to plan planned remote maneuvering, etc.

The successful construction of TVETs contributes significantly to monitoring, regularly and continuously updating the operation status of machines and equipment at TBA; at the same time, significantly reducing the workforce and workers directly managed at the substations.
