Experience in building and applying ISO 45001 at NSN Construction & Industry JSC

During the journey of more than 15 years of development, NSN Construction & Industry Joint Stock Company has matured and made great strides in the field of construction.

With the desire to ensure the health of workers and absolute safety for all projects of the company, in 2018, NSN’s Board of Directors registered to participate in the Program “Support for pilot application of an occupational health and safety management system OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 for industrial enterprises” funded by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and implemented by Asia Business Development and Management Consulting Co., Ltd. (AHEAD).

ISO 45001: 2018 – Occupational Safety & Health management system provides criteria and frameworks for improving occupational safety, reducing workplace risks and creating safer working conditions.

Occupational health safety control on industrial buildings with up to several hundred people with many dangers of unsafety and accidents due to working at high altitude, limited space, The complexity of moving and transporting materials, etc, is not straightforward. Therefore, the safety and hygiene of the construction environment must be thoroughly understood to each worker, engineer and comply with NSN’s stringent requirements as well as practical work.

Recognizing that, NSN Construction & Industry Joint Stock Company has cooperated with AHEAD consultants to conduct a comprehensive survey of the operating status at the Company and the project site to identify the hazards of safety side, assess risks and work together to work out practical measures to control risks and limit accidents to the lowest level.

In order to improve safety in the construction of works, NSN leaders also pay special attention to the management of machines, equipment and materials with strict requirements on labor safety such as cranes, excavators, bulldozers, forklifts, air compressors, drilling machines, welding machines, etc. Therefore, safety technical inspection activities are always monitored, implemented and checked strictly according to the correct plan. plan.

The company has sent 12 staff members to training courses on awareness, training on the requirements of ISO 45001: 2018 and internal assessment training by AHEAD experts. At the same time, NSN also organized training courses on safety for employees internally and contractor staff working at the sites. For safety specialists, the Company also plans to train outside with in-depth professional training content including the theory part, the practice part and the certification test as specified in the program. the framework of professional training and fostering on technical inspection of occupational safety.

Based on the advice of AHEAD experts, NSN Construction and Industry Company has improved and uniformly implemented the supervision of contractors under 3 different levels: level 1 is a responsible contractor, level 2 is the initial work of the State Budget to supervise the contractor and level 3 is the State Board of Foreign Affairs of the Company. In addition to daily monitoring, the Company also set up weekly and monthly inspection teams to ensure ATSKNN at sites with the participation of managers from group leaders, board leaders and leaders. Company. The involvement of management at all levels in the inspection of the construction site demonstrates the highest commitment and priority to the work of ensuring police construction and stability.

After 12 months of applying in practice and undergoing two rigorous assessments of VQA, on April 17, 2019, NSN was recognized and granted ISO 45001 certification by the Japan Quality Assurance Organization JQA: 2018. To maintain the management system of ATSKNN is not easy, JQA will re-evaluate once a year to ensure that the State budget’s ATSK system is still suitable and seriously and effectively implemented.

The certification of ISO 45001: 2018 is proof that NSN’s employees have complied well with the rules of discipline, built a scientific and methodical working environment, catching up with the trend of the times.
