With the aim of raising awareness and supporting industry and trade enterprises to apply 5S tools to improve operation efficiency and minimize waste; encouraging enterprises to apply and promote 5S maintenance as a basis for implementing programs to improve quality productivity in enterprises, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has organized training courses on 5S methods for staff. Ministry of units throughout the country. This task was assigned to EPRO Consulting Joint Stock Company to implement in 2017 and 2018.
The training program and content for enrollment have been widely disseminated on the NSCL website of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Departments of Industry and Trade, professional associations and networks of consultants and experts. Thereby attracted great attention from enterprises of the Industry and Trade sector and received a total of 420 registration forms to participate in the training. In particular, 303 students were in accordance with the program criteria and were invited to attend 10 training courses held in 3 regions: North, Central and South. The number of trainees exceeded 21% of the set target (training for 250 students).
The training program consisted of in-class training and 03 months of 5S innovation practice at the enterprise by students and reported with the guidance of the Consultant. Drawing on experience from organized courses and trainees’ comments, the training program has been supplemented with many illustrations, specific examples of 5S methodology in production areas and offices. In addition, games and teamwork activities were also strengthened to increase focus in the classroom. The interaction between students and lecturers is improved through courses by exchanging, discussing problems and difficulties students encounter when applying 5S in practice.
At the end of 2 days of training, students practice practically at the enterprise and receive remote support from the Consultant. During practice, when receiving questions from trainees, lecturers will have answers within 2 working days.
At the end of the training, participants said that they understood 5S concepts, principles and steps to implement 5S good practices, ready to apply to their workplace practices. In particular, 66 students have submitted 28 reports of 5S improvement results at the enterprise and were certified. In particular, many improvements benefit the company such as:
– SHINSEI NITTO Vietnam Co., Ltd: sorting and arranging data files by function helps reduce 30% of time to retrieve data files.
– Bach Linh Trading and Service Co., Ltd.: Reducing the time to get goods in the warehouse: 1 order of 50 codes from 1h20 ‘to 1h05’; inventories inventory time reduced from 60 ’to 40’.
– Danang Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Company: SEAREE: Before 5S, the search time for cranes required 3 minutes, after 5S, the time was reduced to 1 minute 30s.
– Austdoor Nhon Trach Company Limited: Implementing 5S to rearrange the production line of mechanical areas to increase the productivity up to 9%, exceeding the set target; The rate of wastage of steel and aluminum has decreased significantly since the implementation of 5S: the rate of steel wastage decreased from 2.5% -> 2%; aluminum decreased from 0.8% -> 0.2%.
– Working environment is more open, more comfortable.
– Employees’ awareness of positive changes when complying with 5S regulations.
After 10 training courses, 13 companies continued to register to participate in the 5S implementation support program at enterprises.
