Evaluate 5S implementation in enterprises under the support program of the Ministry of Industry and Trade

Within the framework of the project’s operation, the mission “Training, guiding development declare 5S good practices at enterprises of Industry and Trade” assigned EPRO Consulting Joint Stock Company has implemented in the two years 2017-2018 follow Decision No. 5188 / QD-BCT of December 30, 2016 of the Minister of Industry and Trade. There have been 39 enterprises across the country selected to participate in consulting support, direct instruction at the factory.

The selected businesses worked with consultants to conduct surveys and select the scope of implementation appropriate to the resources of each company. The implementation contract and the overall 5S implementation plan at the enterprise were signed. Under this plan, the Consultant and the business will approach the program in 6 steps:

• Step 1. Prepare 2 weeks Ready for implementation resources
• Step 2. Instruct 3S and start 4 weeks Commitment of leaders and employees
• Step 3. Screening – Arrangement – Clean 6 weeks Changes in observations and measurements
• Step 4. Assessment and implementation of Caring – Ready 4 weeks Record results, activate reward mechanism, establish maintenance system
• Step 5. Take Care – Ready 6 weeks Maintain and continue to reach changes
• Step 6. Evaluation & preparation of 5S certification within 2 weeks Achievement recognized

Evaluation of 5S implementation at enterprises shows that 5S activities at enterprises to be successful need great support from the company’s management team. Some highlights need to be taken when implementing steps to achieve high efficiency such as:

Some companies organized a good launch day such as: At the No.1 Tooling Joint Stock Company, the Board of Directors directly performed the overall cleaning with all members of the company; The existing 5S contest at Thien Nam Investment & Development Joint Stock Company and Pacific Plastic Joint Stock Company attracted a large number of employees.

– Screening – Arrangement – Cleanness recorded a lot of visual changes in the arrangement and placement of the workshop: Phu Tho Textile Co., Ltd. removed 26.4 tons of waste; GTECO Global Technology and Equipment JSC changes the way of storing steel sheets to save 75% of the production area; Duc Anh Co., Ltd specifies the areas to be located in 2 warehouses to help reduce inventory and searching time, etc.

– Implementation of Caring – Ready: with the guidance of the Consultant, 100% of the businesses participating in the program have built evaluation charts for each area where 5S is applied and maintains the assessment. periodic. This is an important step for the company to preserve and promote the 5S results it has implemented. All companies have Zalo 5S group and message boards at the factory to enhance communication activities.

Summarizing the program, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has granted 5S Good Practice Certificates to 36 enterprises. These are businesses that have implemented 5S practice activities on schedule and achieved the set goals.
