After years of incubating, researching and building the system, adidas finally succeeded in producing robotic shoes, with the first product on the market being M.F.G. Adidas’ robot factory is called SpeedFactory. The name Speed - Speed comes from shortening the production time of a shoe.
At the Speedfactory, Adidas is making footwear for certain cities, starting in London. According to the factory’s micro site, called the “future of how we make it,” the Speedfactory uses data from athletes to create customized city designs. Instead of workers, the factory uses robots, cutting the time to bring products to market from more than a year to less than 45 days.
It used to take a total of 18 months to research and manufacture a complete pair of shoes from scratch (including transportation, testing, etc). Now Adidas has shortened it to days and will be hours. Although made almost entirely by robots, but these sneaker still ensure each meticulous line, exquisite as being processed from human hands.
It is known that until now, adidas has just launched 500 M.F.G models & has a number of 1-500, so it will certainly be in the Limited Edition form, and the original price is about $ 250. Adidas has revealed that it plans to use robots at its Speedfactory to produce a range of Adidas Made For (AM4) products specifically designed for six of the world’s largest cities. The first AM4LDN shoe was designed specifically for London and will be available on the market on October 19.
Soon after, AM4PAR (Paris) will launch on October 26, while versions of AM4LA (Los Angeles), AM4NYC (New York City), AM4TKY (Tokyo) and AM4SHA (Shanghai) – are available. The company’s second robot plant in Atlanta will help the company to automatically produce shoes for other cities soon. In the future, Adidas may design shoes for individual users similar to how they make athletic products.
