Determining tea trees as potential and special strengths of the province, for many years, Thai Nguyen province has focused on investing resources to develop tea exploitation and processing activities towards expanding the scale of the area, improve quality. In Dong Hy district, Thai Nguyen province, the investment of modern equipment in production and processing over the past time has significantly improved quality productivity.
The Dong Hy district is the second largest tea growing area of Thai Nguyen province with nearly 3,800 ha. Tea is considered as a key crop in economic development, so the district’s leaders always pay attention to supporting and encouraging people to intensify the application of advanced technology to production and processing.
With the local industrial promotion capital, in 2019 the district has supported the investment of 144 duplicators, 142 machines and 4 vacuum machines for tea production and processing facilities. Gradually aware of the benefits that apply modern technology to production, many tea production facilities in the area also take advantage of this support to boldly invest in improving technology and production equipment. At present, Van Han hamlet, 100% of tea-growing households are using star machines and automatically rotating motor for drying tea. By 2020, the commune has registered to support more than 100 corrugated iron rolls, machine tools, etc.
Thanks to these changes in the Dong Hy district, there have been remarkable results. In Minh Lap commune, Nguyen Viet safe tea cooperative after synchronous investment: copiers, dryers, aroma machines, automatic gluing machines, vacuum machines help to improve labor productivity significantly, so the cooperative continued to invest in additional tea copying machines with gas to replace automatic motorized corrugated iron. The machine is easy to adjust the temperature, heat well, make tea buds ripen evenly, retain good fragrance, taste better, so the output is more competitive in the market.
Thereby, in recent years, the productivity and tea output of the Dong Hy district have continuously increased. In 2019, tea productivity reached over 122 quintals / ha / year, an increase of nearly 2 quintals / ha / year compared to 2018; the output of fresh bud tea reaches over 40.2 tons; 5% higher than the year plan.
Local leaders always support tea growers in order to boost productivity, product quality, and contribute to raising incomes for workers. Therefore, people bravely apply modern machinery and techniques for production and processing activities. In the coming time, along with taking advantage of the support from industrial encouragement in the province, Dong Hy district will continue to implement many supporting policies for tea growers, especially the introduction of modern machinery for production, etc.
