54 TPM cards were attached to equipment anomalies, 46 TPM cards processed, 14 lessons one point to share knowledge, workers became conscious in cleaning, checking, lubricating, tightening tighten the device. Those are some positive results that Son Hai Phong No. 2 Company achieved in 2 months of applying TPM’s pillar of AM.

Self-governing maintenance pillar is one of the three pillars to be implemented in the TPM consulting program of the Ministry of Industry and Trade supported at Son Hai Phong Joint Stock Company No. 2. The application period is only 2 months but it delivering good results, creating a foundation for continued maintenance.

In the reality of operating and maintaining equipment at the company, not all operators are equally qualified but some have experience and skills superior to others. To help enhance and standardize operator skills in equipment care and maintenance, the company decided to adopt the self-managed maintenance pillar as a core activity in the TPM program. Activities in the pillar AM applied at Son Hai Phong No. 2 JSC include:

(1) Concentrated class theoretical training for all employees operating 8 production lines.

(2) Practice tagging to detect equipment abnormality in the workshop.

(3) Instructions to make the abnormal before – after pictures, do a one-point lesson.

(4) Guide the tag collection, processing and updating mechanism to the management file.

During the first time of implementation, the Company encourages workers to actively participate in tagging to improve their skills and awareness of abnormal detection even the smallest errors such as dirty machine, paint removal machine, loss of screws. As a result, after 2 months, the company attached and processed 54 TPM green and red cards (green cards handled by the operator, red cards handled by the maintainers), with 46 images before – after abnormal and 14 lessons. a point. Equipment hygiene, inspection and lubrication standards have been developed for the crushers and extruders and have been instructed by the head of the electromechanical department to operate the workers at these two machines.

The implementation of AM pillar at the Company has shown two major benefits: First, reducing maintenance workload for the Company’s maintenance staff. A waste of resources would be wasted if the maintenance department had to do even basic maintenance tasks like simple machine checking or lubrication that could practically be done by an operator. Second, the operator is the person holding the machine, if they have abnormal early detection skills, they will help fix the machine right from the small errors, avoid when the machine has a major failure, it will consume resources and costs much more.

In the coming time, to maintain this pillar requires the supervision and urging of the management of the Company, thereby creating a daily routine for the operators. In addition, individuals should be encouraged to actively participate in activities in this pillar by commending and rewarding solemnly and publicly in front of the Company.
