When it comes to Eisenwerk’s success Erla goes without mentioning the support from the machine tools and machining centers provided by DMG Mori.
With an investment of around seven million euros, Eisenwerk Erla’s foundry and milling workshop was moved to a larger space in preparation for the installation of CNC machines. Dietmar Hahn – CEO of the company shared about the initial plan: “At first, we wanted to operate the machine manually. However, DMG MORI later proposed a fully automatic production system“. Design of linked milling and turning centers – all NLX 2500 | 700s – impresses us both qualitatively and from an economic standpoint. Manual clamping between machining steps is more prone to errors, and without an alignment system we would need more staff. The staff that we will have to receive and train first.”
NLX 2500 | 700 is a high rigidity, high precision rotating center with a center spacing of 700 mm. This model flexibly handles various workpieces with beds of high rigidity, powerful turning ability and outstanding milling performance with BMT (Built-in Turret). This model uses CELOS + MAPPS V as the control panel, allowing a wide variety of customers, from novices to operators, to easily process workpieces of simple to complex shapes.
The NLX 2500 employs a highly reliable spindle designed to minimize heat loss. Spindle maze structure suits a wide variety of materials and the spindle air filter applied to the machine (optional for 2-axis rotation specification) provides high durability by preventing coolant from entering enter the spindle.
Especially, with equipment NLX 2500 | Its new 700, Eisenwerk Erla can also replace the spindle to meet different requirements for each product. During engine machining, for example, the company can use the JIS A2-5 2 shaft type which allows the machining of both surfaces continuously. The combination of the rotating chuck and the flexible Y-axis provides integrated machining from turning to back machining or multi-axis machining. The rotation speed of JIS A2-5 2 can be up to 6000 rpm.
After more than a year of applying the new setup process at Eisenwerk Erla, Rico Klotz, systems setup specialist at DMG Mori summed up: “Only minor adjustments are required after commissioning. The production system can be operated with virtually no problems. A user’s rate of product complaints below 1% is impressive proof.”
