Dien Nam Manufacturing and Trading Co., Ltd (DINACO) was established in 2006 operating in the field of manufacturing and trading steel and cast iron products. Along with investing in renovating production lines and applying modern technology to increase product value and improve competitiveness, the Board of Directors of the Company also pays attention to ensuring safety. labor hygiene, fire prevention and improvement of working conditions for employees working at the factory.
Currently, the number of employees at the Company is about 200 people, of which more than 75% of employees work in heavy, hazardous and dangerous jobs. Due to the characteristics of the metallurgical industry, direct producers face many risks every day, the Board of Directors is eager to develop and apply the ISO 45001: 2018 management system to ensure the health and lives of workers. At the same time, create a favorable and safe working environment, thereby improving the Company’s operational efficiency.
The entire ISO 45001 implementation process has been consulted and supported by Asia Business Development and Management Consulting Co., Ltd. (AHEAD). This is also a project within the framework of the mission “Supporting the pilot application of the occupational health and safety management system OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001 for industrial enterprises” supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. funding for implementation in 2018-2019.
DINACO’s management board collaborated with AHEAD experts to organize 3 training courses: awareness, requirements of ISO 45001 and internal assessment of the occupational safety and health management system for 10 staff in charge of Department. Thanks to that, the Company has built safety manuals, system documents, safety instruction documents for each production stage. The company also organizes safety training for all employees on rules, regulations on occupational safety and health; dangerous and hazardous factors that can cause occupational accidents, occupational diseases and preventive measures; how to handle common situations and first aid methods for victims; training for newly recruited employees, newly-recruited employees, contractor’s workers engaged in machinery and equipment maintenance and repair; training in workplace risk identification and assessment skills, preventing occupational accidents, major equipment incidents causing damage to people, property and the environment.
Under the guidance and support of AHEAD experts, production staff and technical staff have carried out inspections and reviews of maintenance and machine maintenance plans and factory cleaning plans. All production machines and equipment of the Company and at the production workshop are installed safety signs; With 27 machines and equipment with strict safety requirements, additional screens and warning lights were installed; strictly comply with regulations on declaring to authorities before putting into use and periodically inspecting, ensuring production safety.
In January and February 2019, the Administration Department planned to purchase personal protective equipment (protective clothing, hats, shoes, special gloves) and distribute them fully. The medical team is on duty for first aid 24/24 hours to ensure timely first aid when an occupational accident occurs. One of the top issues of concern for the company is to raise the awareness of employees’ observance of the rules and regulations on labor safety. On that basis, conducting periodic and ad-hoc inspections, promptly correcting violations of labor safety. It is worth mentioning, DINACO’s management has set out a very serious bonus and penalty regime: if the employee violates, depending on the degree of discipline, the case of serious error, causing consequences, will be disciplined. law by changing jobs, with lower wages.
In return, the Company also fully complied with other provisions of the law on occupational safety assurance, organized periodic health checks for employees; The workers who do heavy and hazardous jobs are provided with in-kind allowances in accordance with the State regulations. The working environment testing activities carried out in December 2019 showed that the production environment items of the Company all met the standards. Legal compliance assessment and occupational safety and health consultation are conducted periodically twice a year in April and October. This demonstrates an effort and commitment to create safe, healthy and favorable working environment for employees of DINACO’s management board.
Thanks to the continuous application of ISO 45001, in 2019, At Dien Nam Production and Trade Co., Ltd, there have not been any serious problems in production yet, employees are allowed to work in a safe environment, minimizing risks of accidents and production stops.
