Cuong Vinh Company: Reduce 5.8% of downtime thank to applying TPM

Through the TPM Application Support Program for enterprises implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Cuong Vinh Company has achieved many practical and typical achievements such as reducing 5.8% of downtime and improving efficiency produced in aluminum casting workshop.

Participating in the program, Cuong Vinh Company attended many training sessions, including: one day training on TPM; training and guiding the implementation of self-maintenance (automotive) pillars (AM) for machine operators; training was combined with instructions for implementing Planned Maintenance pillars (PM), Quality Management (QM) pillars and focused improvement pillars (FI).

The training sessions on the pillars of TPM have helped the TPM members understand and know how to implement each steps. In addition, the TPM members of the company continuously discussed and be consulted in each steps of implementing TPM.

From October 2018, the Company established a TPM committee with the participation of many departments (Deputy General Director as Head of TPM, Production Manager, HR director in charge of Effective supervision, the Manager of the workshop directly runs TPM activities at the workshop) and aims to improve the capacity of the operators (operators know what they have to do before running the machine, in order to combine the responsibility of the operators and equipment maintenance person; Reduce downtime due to malfunction.

After the first 3 months, the company has listed the reasons for stopping the machines. This helps the company offer immediate solutions to overcome. From 1/2019, the company monitored and reduced the time to stop the machine due to incidents. In February, the company reduced 5.8% of downtime compared with January 2019.

At the same time, preventive measures are implemented to control the downtime due to incidents, such as: Completing the standardization for the operation of casting machines, training and assessing machine operation capacity according to the target standardize and standardize regulations on production errors. In addition, the company provides a mechanism for every operator to discover errors and irregularities that can be reported to the leader of the workshop accurately, fully and quickly (using red card tool and information technology). believe).

With the success achieved after only 3 months, the company leaders have strongly supported and supported TPM to deploy pillars of AM, PM, FI, and HSE with the continuous maintenance of 5S as a foundation for TPM. TPM activities are promoted according to each pillar: training, evaluation, reward, improvement group, report of improvement results …

TPM also set a target for the last 6 months of 2019 to implement the pillar AM in step 7, the PM pillar in step 7; Expand TPM activities to the second workshop.
