Cong Tien company successfully apply ISO 45001: 2018 management system

In 2018-2019, the Ministry of Industry and Trade implemented the Business Support Program to build Occupational Safety and Health Management System (OH&S) according to OHSAS/ISO 45001.

The program is piloted for businesses of key industries under the Prime Minister’s Decision 604 / QD-TTg (Textile, Footwear, Plastics, Chemicals, Energy, Steel, Mechanical, Electrical – Informatics, Food processing, Mining and mineral processing) with the aim of raising awareness, capacity to apply and popularize the OH&S management system.

Cong Tien Industrial Technology Co., Ltd (CTTi) is engaged in the installation, processing and manufacturing of mechanical products. The company is headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, a team of more than 450 people operating across the provinces of North, Central and South. Some outstanding projects that CTTi has been implementing are the maintenance project of Bunge Vietnam oil refinery, equipment installation project for Ha Tinh Formosa iron and steel factory, Kyodai’s factory installation project. located in Thach Khoi industrial zone, Hai Duong, etc.

Operating in the field of mechanical engineering and construction with potentially high risks associated with safety and health of workers, right from the first days of establishment, CTTi’s Board of Directors set out motto “Quality must go hand in hand with safety”. Therefore, besides applying the management systems according to international standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, etc in the process of production and business, CTTi also pays special attention and implements the system standard. Occupational Health Safety management (OHSAS 18001:2007).

Since the beginning of 2018, upon being informed of the pilot program of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, CTTi’s management board quickly registered and was fortunate to be one of the enterprises receiving the earliest support. So far, after many months of successful construction and continuous maintenance and improvement of the system, CTTi has recorded many positive changes, not only enhancing the safety assurance for workers, but also production activities, Construction and installation are also organized more scientifically, more effectively, contributing towards sustainable development.

Since the application of OHSAS 18001, the working environment of the projects has been significantly improved, the workflow has been supplemented with many safety practices, thus reducing the risk of tripping, injury or accident. After receiving training, employees have understood the meaning and role of the system, 100% comply with regulations on labor protection voluntarily, perform safety operations in accordance with the instructions. All employees participate in activities of detecting and handling abnormalities during operation, promptly solving incidents and minimizing risks of unsafety. Operational activities are clearly defined, employees are disseminated and deployed in the right way. As a result, the number of light occupational accidents has decreased significantly, with no serious accidents recorded during 2018-2019.

Quarterly, the Company’s Board of Directors in conjunction with the Trade Union team organizes worker meetings with the purpose of consulting on safety issues, benefits and insurance regimes to improve and improve the efficiency of controlling OH&S activities at the enterprise.

In response to the relentless efforts of all CTTi employees, in January 2019, the Company officially received OHSAS 18001: 2007 certification. Achieving this certification not only demonstrates continuous improvement in compliance and application of Occupational Health Safety System procedures, but also improves operational efficiency, confirms the responsibility of the Company. for employees, stakeholders and society. The Leadership of the Corporation is committed to doing its best, creating conditions and closely guiding the ISO 45001: 2018 management system to be maintained and continually improved. The Board of Directors commented that this is only the first step in building an occupational health and safety management system, the next need to focus on maintaining the system operation, next, it is necessary to pay attention to the maintenance of system operation and continuous improvement for the system to really bring about efficiency.
