Many businesses in the “cashew capital” of Binh Phuoc are facing many difficult problems in capital, raw materials, etc. Facing the above situation, the provincial government of Binh Phuoc is determined to improve the cashew industry with many solutions.
Automation and energy saving
Binh Phuoc currently has more than 134,000 ha of cashew, accounting for nearly 50% of the country’s cashew area, of which 132,000 ha is harvested, the annual output is about 150,000 tons. With a large source of raw materials, Binh Phuoc has many processing and trading businesses with 290 companies and about 600 small manufacturing and processing establishments.
However, the harvest output in recent years only met 25% of processing capacity, the province had to import more raw cashew nuts from Africa for processing, so it depended on raw materials from abroad. This led to 80% of small and medium production facilities closed.
Mr. Vu Manh Tung (SN 1982, living in Phu Rieng district) has 9 years working in cashew processing industry in a company located in town. Phuoc Long said that cashew production and processing is one of the key industries, contributing greatly to the provincial budget. The application of automation in cashew production and processing is increasingly applied widely in the factory. “However, the application of automation increases the cost of energy. The economical and efficient use of energy is a matter of great concern ”, Mr. Tung said.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Binh Phuoc, the main electricity consumption system of the cashew processing and processing factory usually focuses on production lines and the system of air compressors, lighting loads and some other equipment. negligible percentage. The boiler energy consumption system is mainly used for steaming and drying. Therefore, the use of energy in most plants still has some disadvantages that need to be overcome.
Binh Phuoc Department of Industry and Trade is launching a movement to save electricity in particular and energy in general in all factories, manufacturing facilities, improve and upgrade the air compressor system such as checking and fixing leaks of compressed air systems, attaching intelligent control inverter of air compressor with no load time or buying new generation air compressor in the future, etc.
In order to continue accompanying with cashew processing enterprises and businesses, in 2019, besides continuing to implement the national industrial promotion scheme, Binh Phuoc People’s Committee continues to allocate funding for the implementation of the local industrial promotion program; focus on implementing projects on technology transfer, application of scientific advances, modern machinery and equipment in order to increase productivity and product quality and minimize environmental pollution.
Binh Phuoc Department of Industry and Trade also supports businesses and production facilities to participate in trade fairs inside and outside the province in order to promote products, seek opportunities for cooperation and expand markets. The Ministry of Industry and Trade also approved the national industrial promotion project on “Supporting rural industrial facilities in Binh Phuoc province to develop cashew processing in the period of 2018-2020”, spending VND 9.3 billion for Binh Phuoc to deploys supporting content.
Improve processing quality
Recently, at the workshop to improve the production and processing quality, Mr. Vu Duy Khien, Director of Binh Phuoc Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consultant Center, said that Binh Phuoc cashew has a remarkable advantage. The quality compared to imported cashews has contributed to turning cashew into a strong industrial tree, bringing high export value. Therefore, over the past time, the province has provided support for 63 cashew production and trading establishments with an expense of over 11 billion dong, of which supported to build 6 demonstrations of cashew nut processing technology for export; applied 5 color sorting machines, 16 cashew shelled shelling machines, 5 boiler systems for handling raw cashew nuts and 30 cashew separators in the export cashew processing line.
At the seminar, many solutions were proposed to improve and quality cashew products such as the application of modern machinery and equipment in processing; apply cleaner production and save energy in processing.
Ms. Do Thi Minh Tram, Deputy Director of the local Department of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Industry and Trade emphasized that in order to maintain the development speed to ensure stability and sustainability, the cashew industry in Vietnam in general and Binh Phuoc in particular still remains. Many issues are considered and need to be addressed. In particular, supporting the application of machinery and equipment to improve the output of domestic cashew products; support technical demonstration models of new technologies; training to improve management capacity to support businesses and production facilities, etc.
