Breakthrough in production and business thanks to productivity improvement tools

More than 5,000 businesses participating in the 712 Program are announced by the Directorate for Standards and Quality after 8 years of implementation.

Many of them have achieved remarkable results when applying productivity and quality improvement tools in production and business, since then there has been a dramatic change in thinking and performance.

The national program “Improving productivity and product quality of enterprises until 2020” (Program 712) was approved by the Prime Minister in 2010. With the ultimate goal of contributing to improving productivity , product quality of goods, increasing competitiveness for Vietnamese enterprises in the market.

After 8 years of implementation, the program has brought great benefits to businesses in the process of improving productivity, product quality and competitiveness in the market. Joining in this program, enterprises have access to quality management systems according to international standards (ISO 9000, ISO 14000) and a system of basic improvement tools such as 5S, Lean or Lean 6 Sixma, etc.

Actual implementation in Vietnam shows that enterprises seriously implementing projects on improving productivity and productivity have recorded great efficiency due to it. The application of management systems, advanced quality productivity improvement tools, application of management criteria of the National Quality Award model has helped tens of thousands of businesses improve product and goods quality, reduce error costs, thereby improving labor productivity and competitiveness.

According to Mr.Nguyen Huy Hoan – Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Industry and Trade, many pilot models of applying advanced and modern quality management systems and tools have been consulted. building, applying, etc. These activities, on the one hand, have brought about practical results for the purpose of improving productivity, product quality, the ability to participate in global supply chains, on the other hand, become typical example, promoting movement to improve productivity and quality in enterprises of the industry.

According to Vu Hong Dan, an expert of the Vietnam Productivity Institute, the Program 712 has been implemented for more than 5,000 enterprises over the past 8 years and supported to access the international quality standard system and productivity improvement tools.

As a result, businesses reduce errors and improve the ability to meet customer requirements, help improve the competitiveness of the business.

At Smart Vietnam Precision Mechanical Joint Stock Company specializing in manufacturing and trading mechanical products, Mr. Trinh Ngoc Thao, Deputy General Director, said that since the first year of operation, the company’s turnover has been zero. In 2017, the factory can raise by itself and be trusted by some foreign customers of Japan and the US. In 2018, in addition to self-raising, the company began to be profitable and has a certain position with selected customers.

At Vietnam – France Hanoi Hospital, when applying the project of improving productivity to the hospital, the testing process decreased from 58 steps to 48 steps; test time and return results are shortened, bringing satisfaction to the patients and the team of doctors.

As for Nam Ha Garment Joint Stock Company, the sample making time was shortened from 44 hours/1 item to 32 hours/1 item. Labor productivity at the garment factory increased by 20-30%, the errors in the stage decreased from 10% to 50%.

According to statistics, in the period of 2016-2018, the General Department of Standardization, Metrology and Quality organized centralized training courses, online training on management systems, models, and tools to improve quality and productivity. (ISO 22000, ISO 23001, LSS, Lean, TPM, KPIs, etc) for more than 3,000 students from business organizations. In addition, more than 5,000 delegates from organizations and businesses were also guided to apply quality productivity improvement solutions through seminars; 500 enterprises have been trained in knowledge of quality productivity and 600 enterprises have been consulted and deployed to apply one or a number of tool systems such as: 3834, Lean, TPM, ISO383, ISO 22000, etc.
