Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical: Saving 37 billion VND with Kaizen initiatives

Recently, Mr. Bui Minh Tien, General Director of BSR recognized, honored and rewarded collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in Kaizen implementation. Among them, there are outstanding Kaizen such as: “Solution of splitting temporary pipe package into an independent package in BDTT (TA) phase and reusing this temporary pipe in the next TA batch of BSR”. With this solution, engineer Tran Nhu Phuong said: The solution helps BSR proactively, save time for the preparation of overall maintenance later. This solution has an economic value of about 34.5 billion VND.

Solution: “Add the activation function of the low-temperature reactor to avoid coke generation in case the temperature drops below 480 degrees C during the start-up of the FRCC workshop” by engineers Nguyen Hoang Tri, Nguyen Chanh Quoc, Trinh Duy Linh, Huynh Cong Vinh (Operations Department) are also solutions of high technical and economic value.

BSR’s Kaizen program has been implemented since May 2013. BSR’s Kaizen committee has organized many annual training courses for employees on applying Kaizen philosophy to their daily work. In the training courses, the trainees are shared with knowledge, skills and experience related to cost reduction practices in the production system as well as making the job simpler, faster and safer, more convenient and efficient. Up to now, Kaizen has been regularly implemented by BSR staff and staff, with more and more practical initiatives and improvements at work. BSR departments often have many Kaizenes such as: Production operation, Maintenance and repair, Research and development, Quality control, Checking equipment, etc.

Kaizen is known as a famous Japanese business philosophy that has been successfully applied to many businesses around the world. Its name is made up of two Japanese words: kai – continuous and zen – to improve, meaning continuous improvement.

Implementing Kaizen improves productivity and quality of products and services and reduces operating costs without requiring complicated techniques or new technology, without requiring a large investment. This is an attraction of Kaizen
