Benefits of applying TPM at Vilaco Joint Stock Company

Vilaco Joint Stock Company is an enterprise specializing in manufacturing and trading detergents, liquid detergents and cosmetics. With modern technology, a management system meeting ISO 9001, ISO 14001 standards and a priority strategy for human resource development, Vilaco is step by step towards the goal of “becoming the best detergent manufacturer in Vietnam”.

In order to improve productivity, quality and fulfill the set goals, Vilaco has registered to participate in the program “Support for pilot application of overall performance management (TPM) tool for industrial enterprises) of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Accordingly, experts in the field of TPM had training sessions, direct implementation instructions at the enterprise.

First of all, company staff were trained on TPM’s pillars: AM, PM, HSE and FI. After that, the TPM committee converts these knowledge into simple, specific instructions to guide the operators and the electromechanical staff to perform daily. There were 500 TPM red cards (abnormal detection) and Before – After photo changes (B&A photo) implemented by the electromechanical department, production workshop; This is also an activity to help TPM members actively and enthusiastically participate in TPM.

As a result, the implementation of TPM brought the company the following benefits:

  • TPM pillars deployed: (1) AM; (2) PM; (3) FI and maintain the 5S foundation.
  • Improve the operator’s ability to detect abnormalities during machine operation through the red card maintenance. There were 500 red cards / photo before – after, done by the electromechanical department, production workshop.
  • Enhance the ability to detect S6 safety irregularities through the Before – After 5S image target to No Accident. 12 Red Safety Cards have been discovered.
  • Data collection and monitoring of the repair work completed monthly rate, 9,10,11 months completion rate is 100%.
  • Monitoring the downtime of the bagging machine, thereby identifying the machines that are often stopped monthly, thereby determining that the machine needs to focus on management in the next month to reduce the loss caused by the outage.
  • Regarding production management: Members of M&E workshop, HC Factory and Detergent Factory are all instructed by TPM on the content of red card; all participate in the activity of hanging red cards. In addition, the TPM steering committee also introduced regulations to encourage (recognize, award rewards) monthly TPM activities, starting from March 2019 and continuously maintained up to now.
  • Innovative solutions that bring the greatest efficiency: The solution most satisfied by the business is (1) Installing a filter cup to lubricate the 4-tap automatic extraction valve, helping to prevent the valve from being stuck due to oil dryness and water inlet valve, result: Eliminate valve jam error due to oil dry; (2) Separate the Aqualic pump and the LAS pump, the result: reduce pump time from 1-2 hours to 15 minutes, and no more problems (previously, it took all day to stop every day); (3) install a diaphragm pump into the LAS pipeline from a height to the weighing tank, resulting in: 9-10 times faster weighing time than without adding a pump.

After a period of guidance in the support framework of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the TPM Board commits to continue to maintain TPM to bring greater efficiency to the company in terms of productivity and quality improvement.
