In order to improve corporate governance, create a professional and scientific working environment, reduce waste in the production and business process, in June 2018, Bao Minh Confectionery Joint Stock Company participated in the 5S Good Practice Guidance Program of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Epro Consulting Joint Stock Company.
5S management tools have helped the company’s production and business activities more professionally and effectively. Accordingly, from June to November 2018, the 5S Program was deployed in the production area, office, finished product warehouse and the company’s raw material warehouse at the factory in Nam Thang Long Industrial Park (Hanoi). In order for the program to be highly effective, the company has issued 5S regulations to clearly define the responsibilities, powers and roles of each individual in the 5S Board. The promulgated 5S bonus regulation is the driving force for the comprehensive operation of the 5S program at the factory. This is the basis of the company’s policy in building and developing the 5S movement in the future.
With the characteristics of confectionery production unit with many stages / stages of production, to achieve high efficiency, consultants have broken down their work and worked with 5S in charge of each area such as: Offices, warehouses, baking departments, etc instead of just working through 5S secretaries like other businesses. Thanks to that, the consulting department has quickly updated the implementation situation in each department and has a timely adjustment plan. In addition, specialized officers are deeply aware of the meaning of 5S to have higher responsibility instead of pushing for the 5S secretary.
Mr. Nguyen The Dung – Head of Planning Department of Bao Minh Company – said that 5S has brought many benefits to businesses. 100% of the employees under the factory and 40% of the office staff are trained on 5S, the company has also built up criteria and regulations to evaluate and maintain 5S. 5S management tools have helped the company’s production and business activities more professionally and effectively.
As a result, after 5 months of 5S implementation, the company has drawn the path, coded the subdivision of raw materials and finished products warehouse, added the warehouse diagram. In the office area, the company has added name labels to all identified document cabinets, lockers, and file spines. In the production area, the company draws paths, locates easy-to-move objects in some dry areas, adds names of areas, labels of belongings.
Employees’ behavior and habits are also changed, when the company conducts 5S evaluation according to 2 established schedules, including daily assessment schedules for 5S leaders and weekly evaluation schedules for representatives of the Board. 5S. The company has issued 5S regulations, 5S rewards; rewarding some departments with good ideas for improvements in 5S and production.

After implementing 5S, utensils and materials at the raw material warehouse are located and easy to move; the areas of application that are most effective are the warehouse and the production area. The message that Bao Minh wants to send to other businesses is, the more food businesses need to do 5S. The company was granted the certificate of 5S / 2018 / DN-26 dated December 20, 2018 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade on 5S good practices in enterprises.
