An engineer typical of creativity at work

In 2013, we went to Thong Nhat Electrical Mechanical Co., Ltd in Hanoi to write about a worker named Nguyen Duc Cuong because he was awarded the Nguyen Duc Canh award by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. Innovations and creations are highly applicable

Right in 2013, at the company, Mr. Cuong was dubbed the “doctor of the machine”. What was impressive at that time was that Nguyen Duc Cuong workers always had the desire to contribute, to be creative but to always share experiences and guidance for young people. For this longtime worker, joy is the passion of the job, the desire to contribute and to be creative. Over the years, he was even happier when those initiatives and creativity were highly applicable, good for the work, for the overall development of the business.

Over 40 years of working with the Company, he has many initiatives, inventions, technical innovations and modernized production lines. The solutions have reduced the processing time to make the products more beautiful, more accurate, contributing to improving productivity, lowering product costs, benefiting the Company billions of dong.

One of the initiatives and innovations benefiting the Company, which he presided over and coordinated with colleagues in the production team, he liked the most was the high pressure nitrogen gas cylinder for the 250 ton casting machine (early 2017) help improve product quality, timely response to production. With this initiative, he and the Technology Equipment Repair Team were rewarded by the leader and the Trade Union (CD).

In particular, in 2013, he and his team of workers researched, designed and manufactured automatic hydraulic presses for ceiling fans. This product, if purchased from abroad, is worth up to VND 300 million. But with efforts to explore, create with the brothers in the team, the product has been successfully manufactured in the country. Thereby, not only shortening the production time (manufacturing time only takes 15-20 days), but the product also saves and benefits the Company hundreds of millions of VND (manufactured products are priced value is only 1/5 of the value of imported products), etc.

Moreover, the products made by him and his brothers in the production team also have more economic value benefits, when all the parts are 100% domestic products.

Creativity and dedication

For him, learning and following Uncle Ho’s example are creative in his daily work. In order to successfully complete the assigned tasks, he always tinkered and searched for himself. Not only did he learn from experience from previous workers, he also cultivated knowledge through books, even young colleagues because to him, “they are basically trained in schools and also very agile when capture technology”.

There were times when the machines were badly broken, and he and his colleagues in the team worked hard until late at night. At one point, the company installed a production line in a facility below Ha Nam, where the whole team had to sleep and sleep for many days there, waiting for the machine to operate.

What is extremely valuable in him is the enthusiasm for vocational transmission for young people. He is always proactive and always willing to help when they need it. Company leaders, colleagues and young workers at the company always respect, admire the skills and creativity of the leader Nguyen Duc Cuong. Therefore, the Technology Equipment Repair Team has managed and effectively exploited about 600 locomotives and equipment, helping the company to always gain high profits every year.

Studying and following Uncle Ho with Mr. Cuong as well as many other workers was simple, just creative and devoted.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Cuong won the title of Excellent Capital Worker in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2017; Merit from the Prime Minister and the Nguyen Duc Canh Award of Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in 2013. In 2015, Mr. Nguyen Duc Cuong was honored to be awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the President. In 2018, Hanoi City awarded the title “Excellent Capital Citizens” to Mr. Nguyen Duc Cuong.
